Thunder was really struggling to solve the mystery; yesterday he convinced Phantom to help with the surveillance crew. But Phantom did not want to go near the playset; he said window watching was as far as he would go. A few years ago he made the mistake of trying to zoom under one of the swings in motion and got whacked on the back; ever since that day he completely avoids going anywhere near it.
So TD decided to enlist some help from Armando the Armadillo.
Armando must have sent out the right signals because here is what appeared!!! Ha, just kidding.
Actually, Thunder has lost interest in what is under the playset, so the Momster is pretty convinced that whatever it was has moved on.
And we all have an idea of what it might have been, especially since there is a lot of THIS on the ground around the playset.

And we all have an idea of what it might have been, especially since there is a lot of THIS on the ground around the playset.
And some more damaging evidence: what has happened to her beautiful Portulacas? Somebunny, we mean somebody, has been nibbling on them.
Although we don't have any photographic proof yet, we think it is a real one of these:
We never have any squirrels anywhere near our property. And we are also mole-free. We have seen snakes in that area, but we do see bunnies around a lot too.
Whatever it was, it has decided that the sniffs and scratches and gnawing and digging from TD were just too much, and it has moved on.

Now Thunder does seem to be spending a lot of time in this corner of the fence - the bunnies have been known to frequent the neighbor's landscape beds too. So maybe there will be a new surveillance team in place soon.
And now we need to tell you all about some wonderful awards we have received.
First is the Your Blog Rocks badge from Dennis the Viszla, who always has very interesting posts. If you don't know him, do stop by and say hi.
This award was created by the purple hatter and the only rule is to share it with nice bloggers who comment more than twice a week on your blog.
The next award came from two of our littler furiends, Lexus and Bentley, at Munchkin Memoirs.
The only rule for this award is to display it and the button below on your sidebar and link to the Purple Hatter. We are free to pass it on to however many bloggers we wish. And our last award came from sweet Lucky Luke. It's the Oops Award.
Now, here are the rules for this award:
1."When accepting this award, you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans were not watching.
2.If you have never stolen any food, you must have been a really good pup!
3.You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward!
4.Next add the logo of this award to your blog (optional), then nominate at least 5 other furry blogs and let them know by leaving a message on their blogs."
Truth be told, the OP Pack really doesn't have much of a history of stealing food. In her younger day, Dakota was a great counter surfer and managed many times to snag a taste of meat. She loved to hang her neck in the sink and grab all the discarded lettuce leaves. But once the Momster discovered the value of mousetraps strategically placed on the counters, most counter surfing came to an end.
As pups, Phantom and Dakota were definitely the Destructive Duo, but it usually didn't involve food. One time when Mom got home from work, she walked into a trashed house. They had managed to knock down the double decker gate to the dining room and destroyed a whole box of paper goods that had been purchased for a backyard reception for the newlywed human brother and his wife. Then they hopped another gate into the family room and destroyed a few VCR tapes and broke a very old Tiffany lamp. That was the day that Mom finally convinced Dad that his darling Dakota and her accomplice Phantom needed to be crated when home alone.
As remarkable as it may sound, Thunder Dunder has always been a pretty good dog - but let's not forget the chewing he did the other day. Mom will have to knock on a lot of wood as she makes this statement - TD has never tried to steal any food from the counter**. No jinxes allowed. But he does enjoy cleaning up all the droppings left on the floor by the grandkidlets while they are eating.
Now for the sharing of these awards. It is never easy to pick just a few bloggers to share these great awards with, so we like to offer to them to all our loyal and nice readers - we think you must meet that description - so help yourself. And many thanks to Dennis, Lexus, Bentley, and Luke.
Woos,
**Note to the Washington Woos (readers, you have to read today's comment from Steve to understand) - TD has never counter surfed, but your Mom is right, he did try to steal some chips and goodies off the coffee table the day she visited. It must have been because it was at what he thought was dog height:)
That was khwite the menagerie woo found!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Teddy Hares were having a pikhnikh!
Khongrats on your pawesome awards and fur sharing all those 'things' that the skhwirrels did in the house and made it look as if Sweet Dakotoa and Phantom The Phine had done!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
I loves bunny smells. I smell them on my walk. Scylla hung out in the jungle gym with me today. ~Fenris
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards and we has to admit that Fenris is a very good doggie and gets in less trouble then Scylla. She is MISS DESTRUCTIVE ~S,S,C & F
We have bunny nuggets in our yard just like you do only so far we've been very good doggies and we leave them right where the bunny left them!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your awards!
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
You should be glad Thunder is on patrol to keep the plants safe from bunnies!
ReplyDeleteSo I won't tell anyone, but my mom says that TD should fess up a bit on food stealing. He might not countersurf, but Mom says she knows for a fact that he's coffee table surfed at least once.
Steve
PS. Kat says I should call out her handsome guy, but I just can't have him making me look bad!
correction:
ReplyDeleteKat says I should NOT call out TD.
Furry cool foodable stories!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awards!
Wags and Licks,
Mollie Jo and Bobo
Wow that one picture of all the stuffies kinda frightened me..they almost looked like they were going to attack.....I bet they scared that somebunny, I mean, somebody away.
ReplyDeleteDeetzy
Congratulations on all of your very cool awards. I think counter surfing might be fun, but I am kind of too little(darn it). I will resort to getting what I can off the ground. I bet the bunny got spooked by Thunder and moved on. Thunder is kind of big compared to a bunny.
ReplyDeletelicks and sniffs, Sasha
Nice awards...
ReplyDeleteWe think thos "little black things on the ground" come from rabbits... There are many of them in this area.
Greetings.
Congrats on all the awards. They are very well deserved! Those are great Oops stories! :)
ReplyDeleteChihuahua kisses,
The Munchkins
Our Oswald LOVES portulacas. He ate a whole pot of them one year!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the awards!
Play bows,
Zim
What a bunch of rascals you found in your yard
ReplyDeletecongrats on all your awards! we had to smile at the image of Dakota leaning over the sink thinking "nom nom nom... lettuce!"
Congratulations on all your awards.
ReplyDeleteWe can tell you that bunny rabbits are almost as much fun as squirrels and those droppings are so tasty!
They are also very nice to roll in so you can still have fun even if the bunny has hopped off somewhere else.
Poor Phantom must remember that swing assaulting him even though it was years ago!
We find it hard to believe that you guys could ever be destructive - you have the look of total innocence!
love
Martha & Bailey xx
We're glad you've (sort of) solved the mystery!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the awards!
The bunny for sure, but I still can't figure out what those stuffies were doing under the deck. Most curious. I am going to see if some of mine have taken up under my observation deck.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Sure glad your friend, who ever it was has moved on. Hopefully it wasn't a skunk and will come back...
ReplyDeleteCongrad's on all your lovely awards..
Big Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
I am kinda glad that the bunny got away. But it might not have been a bunny.
ReplyDeleteYou got some very nice awards there and well deserved too..
Hugs GJ xx
It definitely had to be one of Oswald's relatives. I hope he made a good escape.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all your awards!
Huffle Mawson
HaRooo!
ReplyDeleteWoo has quite da surveillance setup.
Will have to tell Maw bout da mousetrap thing to stop Nikita from counter surfing.
He chewed her new clicker yesterday.
Husky kisses,
Biloxi
Woo, TD, you scare away the bad predators and you don't counter surf. Maybe you are related to Dave?
ReplyDeleteUhm, we read about what you's ate that you' wasn't supposed to an' we think that you guys are makin' some brownie points wif our momma cuz we eat lots of disgusting stuff like cat poops!
ReplyDeleteThe critter that visits you is cutier than the opossums that visit us. It's good you scairt them away though Thunder!
ReplyDeleteHi, friends!
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting... and sure smelly too!
Congratulations on your Awards!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Durn it! wild dingo wanted to see sibes in ACT SHUN! Like bunny-take-down ACT SHUN!
ReplyDeleteOh well, better luck next time. good luck for the bunny tho!
My Mom once read that if you scatter dog hair around where the bunnies visit, they won't come anymore and she believed it for a while. Right up until she looked out the window and saw three bunnies standing up outside the fence looking at the two dogs. Going to a doggie zoo or something like that.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Stella
Thunder is very smart to not go near the playset again. Why risk getting whacked again.
ReplyDeleteWe knew it was those evil bunnies!!!
PE*B
Bunnies? Let me know if you need help catching them! Kongrats on all the awards and thanks for sharing the beautiful tales!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Maxx
Congratulations on your awards! The theory of the intruder under the boards is a good one ... have you found any half-eaten carrots or train tickets to Cucamonga underneath it?
ReplyDeleteThose are big droppings for a rabbit? Are you sure that was who was visiting? My Titan was a great scavenger with food and things out of the trash. He never missed a snack tossed his way.
ReplyDeleteOh You GOOD PUPS!!! And Congrats on all those bootiful awards! Very much deserved! Loved hearing the end of the (cotton) tale hehee!
ReplyDeleteHugs xo
Sammie
You've got quite a team there! We hope one day you, TD, get to catch the bunnies.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of them here.
Congrats on your awards!!!
Hugs,
Sam & June
I only counter surfed once and I got very sick when I did. I ate an entire bag of cookies. Oops!
ReplyDeleteYes, bunnies do leave their little markers behind and unfortunately my pack think they're mighty tasty.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards!
ReplyDeleteMom is glad we don't have bunnies here to leave me treats like that! I would be all over them!!!
Mochi
Mom never forget your camera. Mom wishes she could have gotten closer to the deer.

ReplyDeleteOoh, Thunder - I would have been just like you - totally OBSESSED - even after the mystery creature had gone! I'm like that even if I see cats over our garden fence...it drives my human nuts because I will then go and stand by the fence, staring at nothing intently for hours!! Hee! hee!
ReplyDeleteDid you get to eat those delicious rabbit poos? Did you, huh? I always try to snag some when we go to our big dog park (which has lots of rabbits) or even better, roll in some but I have to do it really quickly when the humans are not looking otherwise I get majorly TOLD OFF!! :-)
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Hi Thunder
ReplyDeleteIt was a bunny. We don't see bunny's here, just squirrels and chipmunks.
Congrats on all those great awards.
Love Ruby & Penny
You have bunny turds! and real ones! Good sluth work Thunder. Mom would've never know other wise. Too bad u can't squeeze thru the fence. My aunt dee had a husky mix who was an escape artist and could've showed u how...

ReplyDeleteIt is rare to catch the heeler's napping...
ReplyDeleteBig Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
I've been monitoring your posts and kept thinking if there was something alive under there you would have been going bezerk (or at least that is what I would have done). I'm surprised you weren't barking, Thunder, again that is what I would have done. It seems like your tactics worked....maybe I should take some lessons! Congrats on your awards, you boys deserve them! Great stories too!
ReplyDeleteSnuggles,
Twix
I am not sure if we have bunnies or not. We have lots and lots of chipmunks and squirrels and all sorts of other animals- hummm i wonder. That naughty Peter Rabbit causing such a comotion.
