We received a package in the mail on Saturday. It was from Hootie and Baby Rocket Dog. A few weeks ago Hootie posted about his day at the PetWalk. His mom said Hootie was a stinker because he had done something naughty, and the first commenter to guess what it was would get a prize. And we WON!!! We will let you visit that post and see if you can figure out what Hootie had done.
Here is the package, such a pretty label, and there were some beautiful flower stickers on the back, but Mom forgot to get a pic of them. You can see more of the opening of the package in the video below, but here is what was inside.
A trio of Safari Animals for the OP Pack, one for each of us.
Thanks, Hootie and BRD. We love these tug toys.
Thunder decided he liked this one.
But then he decided he might like to have the zebra too. And now for the video.

Java, the handsome chocolate lab big brother to the Rocky Creek Scotties, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was such a wonderful big brother to all his pupmates. Sadly he hadn't been doing too well, and his family knew it was time to say good bye. Please stop by their blog and leave them some good wishes. RIP, dear Java.

Many of you have commented on how much Ciara is growing. Mom will have to start doing pics of her with a reference point. Yes, she is indeed growing. TD and Phantom would say that her mouth is getting bigger and louder. But she has really grown a lot in size. She was 17.4 lb.s when she arrived a little over three weeks ago. As of Saturday she is at 21.8 lbs. She eats and plays well. She is very close to being fully potty trained. We have removed the newspapers from the floor and over the past several days, she has had only one accident. She is excellent at night, loves to sleep in her crate, and doesn't cry until she hears the humans stirring or one of the boys. She is almost the perfect pup. BUT she is starting to chew a little more. The vet said she is about to lose some of her baby teeth and we should expect the chewing to get more intense. But she does love her toys, and Mom says she can chew them all she wants as long as she leaves the chair rungs, the woodwork, and anything else that is off limits for her teeth alone.
The one issue we have had with her is not the nicest of topics. So if you don't like poop talk, skip this paragraph. Ciara has not had a firm poop since the second day she arrived. We had NOT changed her food, and we gave her bottled water for about a week to be sure it wasn't due to the change in water sources. She has been checked and rechecked and rechecked again for worms, giardia, and any other identifiable disease. At first the thought was that she had an overgrowth of bacteria due to the stress of the move. She has been on several different antibiotics and has been getting fortiflora, a probiotic, sprinkled on her food. She got a steroid shot to calm down any inflammation in her gastrointestinal tract. We also switched her to a prescription low residue kibble for about a week and a half. Nothing seemed to help. So as of Saturday night, we are slowly moving her from the low residue kibble to the grain-free kibble that TD and Phantom eat. We have seen some very slight improvement and are optimistic things will get better once she is fully moved to the grain free. At this point we don't know what the next step will be.
But as you can see, she is looking good.
And yes, Thunder is still here.
And Phantom too.
He still prefers to let TD take the lead in playing with the little one.
But Thunder is never too far from his big brother.
And here are a few of the three of us together, well, sort of together:)
Hey Phantom, c'mon over here and join us.
Ciara, let's get this done, just look at Mom.
OK, Thunder. We'll just let Phantom snooze.

ReplyDeleteThe photos of the 3 of you are quite sweet.
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose
Gorgeous photos, and those toys look great!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought on the Ciara "P" issue: have you tried mixing some plain cooked rice with her kibble? It can work well in resolving such issues.
What great toys! We know what Hootie did!! Well we girls would never do such a thing.....
ReplyDeleteCiara is getting big and is coming on a treat.
She was so adorable in the video - love the way she uses her paws!!!
She still has a baby voice.
We are sure you will sort the kibble out - we had great fun with Martha when she arrived - you really don't want to know but she is fine now!
Thunder and Phantom look the picture of health so they are a good advert.

Khyra & Khousin Merdie
What a gorgeous little girl, Ciara is.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried adding a spoonful of canned pumpkin to her dinner? Stella had the problem when she first came (she was not a puppy though) and someone told me to buy the plain canned pumpkin (not the pie stuff). So, I opened a can, spread it out on a wax paper covered cookie sheet, and froze it.
Then broke it up as needed, and bagged it for the freezer. It lasts a long time, and we still use it now and then.
Cheers and hugs all around,
Jo and Stella
She was so dainty opening her package. I know a couple of PWD girlies who would have grabbed the whole package and headed for the far corner of the yard.
ReplyDeleteWooos! Woo are all so cute!Especially Phantom and Thunder! Mum says that I had a similar problem when she got me, lasted for over a couple of months, I had to be on an all rice and chicken diet fur a month, then Mum switched me to an all natural Nutro sweet potato and herring, and as long as I do not get anything else, besides treats of course, I am ok.
ReplyDeleteI hope woo tummy feels better soon Ciara!
~puppy kisses~

OMD, I love your the baby. Smokes wanted me to tell you this. When Smokes was a puppy he did not have a normal poop until he was almost a year. If I remember, we did every test there was and they even thought he had a twisted intestine. He was fine on paper though, all his tests would come back normal. I never did know what happened, but one day, several months later, it just stopped. I'm sure you have tried hamburg and rice for a couple of days and see how that goes. Her poor little bottom must be sore!!
ReplyDeleteThe sun is coming out tomorrow! YEAH! Smokes can go back outside for a while! He will be happy :)
xxoo

BabyRocketDog had bad pooh problems when we first got her. The canned pumpkin helped. ALso cooked up white rice for her. She can only eat certain treats too or she still gets diarrhea or at least loose. The vet here in Phx told me when she was sick last month to cut her food consumption to half or less 'til it cleared up. After lots of tests the only thing they found was her liver enzymes were "a little" elevated. She was okay in 3 days!
ReplyDeleteGlad the pooches all like their toys.I was thrilled to find that 3 pack at Costco...one of my fave stores!! Hug some fluffies for me!
x-Cassie
Hootie and BabyRD say "WOOOoooo" to you!
What handsome siblings!
ReplyDeleteWe eat the Nutro sensitive tum food and we have done really well on it.
I'm glad the poops are getting sorted! You can really tell TD and Ciara are related! They are both gorgeous. So are you, Phantom.
ReplyDeleteWhat cool toys you all got.. Ciara you picked the one you liked for sure..
ReplyDeleteYepper Ciara you definitely are growing up fast..
Big Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
Harooos to Ciara! She is growing into a beewootiful young girl! Even with the runny poops. Hey, maybe it's just taking her time to get used to having TWO brothers! Can't brothers give you runny poops??
ReplyDeleteNice to see woo too boys!
Mya Boo Boo
What a furry nice package! We think Ciara would have been quite happy for a while with just the envelope.
ReplyDeletekisses
gussie
Woo Ciara! Maybe your maw could put some vanilla yogurt on your kibble. Nikita loves his yogurt and we gits some too. It has really helped him.
ReplyDeleteWoo is getting to be a furry pretty girl. And your brudders are jest as handsome.
Husky kisses,
Biloxi
Congrats on winning the prizes- they are so cute.
ReplyDeleteObviously the soft poop is not keeping Ciera from gaining weight. I agree you just need to be careful about the grain, especially corn.
And thank you so much for your moving tribute to our sweet Java. Everyone in the blog world and our community has been so sweet to us. But we miss him so and Gary and I both have caught ourselves calling Piper by Java's name - we never did that before.
Have a wonderful evening.
Lynn
What a great gift package!! Everyone looked happy with their presents and Ciara looked like she was being very careful with hers..so unlike Holly. I sure hope the poop problem gets cleared up completely. I had that problem for years with my last dog on and off and have had it several times with Holly. Cause seems to always be unknown and treated with antibotics, supplements, special food and ointment (for soreness) I've never heard of the pumpkin before..I'll try it next time. I've heard of rice and chicken and it has helped. Regardless..you sure can tell she's growing and looking just beautiful!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
ReplyDeleteHope those poopie problems clear up. Must be frustrating trying to find the foodables that agree with your dainty tummy.
ReplyDeleteI must say that Ciara is quite accomplished at the baby harp seal look already. Very precocious.
Slobbers,
Mango
I hope the diet change sorts the problem.. The cuteness just get better and better.. Gorgeous.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteOh no, wet poopies! I hate wet poopies! I hope Ciara gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteYes, she needs a growth chart! Does she have a GG the Giraffe like me? We use GG to chart my growth.

Lorenza
Is she growing or what? Watch out guys!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Riley and Star.
Just wanted to say that your pack is just Gorgeous! Our Bucks mom was a Siberian Husky. Looking at all your pictures brings back so many memories of when our Willow was young. We've gone through the poo problem too & usually put them on a rice only diet for a few days & then worked it into their food, slowly going back to their regular diet. Sometimes it took awhile to regulate but it usually went back to normal. Good Luck.
ReplyDeleteGreat prizes from Hootie! Ciara is so cute playing with them in the video!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pressies from Hootie and Rocket Dog! Just adore the movie of Ciara playing - our hearts just melt! All doggies just so bootiful together - and hope the poop prob. sorts itself out. Sounds like you're doing everything pawsome for the lil girl and she looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHugs xo
Sammie et al!
The members of the pack are all so beautiful. Thunder and Phantom are her guides and full of wisdom as she learns where her place in the pack will be.
ReplyDeleteSo many ideas to try to make the poopoo better. We just went through that with cat.
Nice , nice toys.
How thoughtful
love
tweedles
What nice presents! Ciara is so sweet playing with her toys, and I suspect she would have liked playing with the bag just as well!
ReplyDeleteLots of soft poo with our baby Roo, too. Eventually resolved after trying different things, eliminating certain treats, etc. But even at her...pooiest...it never affected her weight or energy level. :)
I'm sorry the little one is feeling poopy. Have you tried yogurt? Sometimes it rights the ship. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you won - that picture was damn funny!
Oh, boy! Not yet fully potty trained, Ciara, has soft poopies? Seriously, I think my M would have lost it by now if Frankie's poop was soft too. (She's been potty training Frankie for a year, to her defense).
ReplyDeleteLove the video. Just the Ciara pup, hun? I kept expecting guest stars :)
Twink!
"Not posing! Not!"
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, maybe she needs put on some Metro. Khady had a problem like that when she first arrived and we switched her food, too. Good luck! I hop you can find out what it is, or that the new food helps!
ReplyDeleteI still want to smooch on her!!!
i was going to suggest yogurt too and saw that others have already recommended that....it helped with my poop too
ReplyDeletecongrats on the nice pressies and Ciara is a beauty and growing quite big now ( of course, every dawg is always bigger than Us....bol ) but you TWO guys are gorgeous too
i tend to agree with you on the Dogster awards as i'm always weary and we've had quite a few advertisers complimenting us and wanting us to display their logos for publicity .....my apologies if i'm mistaken
chikisses for a wonderful week ahead
Coco
Oh, wow, what a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteCiara is so cute, a beautiful girl.
Nice woooh
Sally
My mom says she'd like to squeeze Ciara and maul her like she does me cause she's so darn cute! Love the video. I like the leopard myself!
ReplyDeletePedro
Hi. Ciara is growing wonderfully. Let us tell you that Byron had intestinal troubles when he was small. In fact, he could not tolerate processed food at all and he was cured when the Boss started to prepare a BARF diet (bones and raw meet). This is what we eat: Byron since he was 1 year old, and Xinver from the beginning (being a puppy).
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos of stunning dogs. The photos, like that last one, just draw me in like a magnet.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that you'll get a ton of different advice. Doggy bloggers all want to help each other - it's a wonderful thing! My vet finally referred me to a vet who specializes in nutrition at Angell Memorial Hospital in New England. My vet faxed all of K's recent recoreds etc, and then we had a phone consultation. She will either help you figure out the best commercial food or she'll formulate a homemade cooked diet. Then, she'll confer with you via email to see how things are going. If you reach a point where you want more info about her, just ask me! Otherwise, it sounds like you're in good paws! I hope that Ciara responds well to the no grain food - apparently the effect can be kind of slow as the gut adjusts it's bacterial population, etc.
We've been in your shoes so I understand how worrying it can be. But, Ciara certainly looks like a super happy and healthy puppy!
Those were pawsome presents!
ReplyDeleteWags and Licks,
Mollie Jo & Bobo
oh my... poor little bum on Ciara. she doesn't look like she's suffering tho. mine get a mix of solid and soft. maybe once a week they get a little soft if they've had too many dried chicken treats (somehow the dried makes them a little soft). anyway, protein kibble should help. i know you said you wanted no grain, and i'm not a grain feeder either BUT rice is really helpful and one of the grains i WOULD feed if i had to and do feed when they are sick in the belly (GI tract).
ReplyDeleteI've always thought pumpkin was a fiber and made things MORE soft. so i don't know about that.
geez, sure hope she grows out of it.
hugs to that cutie pie!
wild dingo
Great gifts! :) I have...umm...had those toys! I have one left. Somehow the others fell apart!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the poops! When mine gets a little soft I get yogurt, but since we are reading backwards, we saw that you tried that. Hope it gets better soon!
Mochi
Phantom cracks me up, just ignores Ciara, like maybe if I keep pretending she isn't here she will go away. Harley was like that when we first brought Samick home. But now they are best buddies.
ReplyDeleteI hope the food switch clears up her problems. We also feed Sagira grain free, she eats Evo and does well on it.
