Finally got some sunshine yesterday - and LOOK - the plants are thriving.
Ciara is not a happy camper as she is confined to house arrest or allowed outside only on leash or under the watchful eye of the Momster.
"Don't worry, Mom. I will stay right here with my brother.
But do I really have to go inside when you do?"
"I am just hoping to find a good spot here for a sunbath and snooze."
Note from the Momster: Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions on Ciara's situation. After careful thought, I have decided not to take her to her obedience class. I have done many classes with the other dogs and will continue to work with Ciara at home. I hope to find another good obedience class opening in early June so that we won't lose any valuable learning time. The class she was enrolled in may not have another session until late summer or early fall, and we won't wait that long. If I can't find a good one that starts soon, I will pursue private training.

Ciara is being very cooperative. The boys are also behaving. Thunder seems oblivious (or maybe clueless) to what is going on. Phantom, the old man, is doing lots of sniffing but so far I have seen no misbehavior toward her and no sign of rivalry between the boys. But I will continue to be very vigilant.
Ciara did manage to sustain an injury. On Sunday she got her front leg under the play set in the yard as she was contemplating some digging. She may have pulled too quickly when she decided to get up. She was exhibiting pain Sunday night and Monday. So off to the vet we went AGAIN. Vet checked her over and thinks she has a sprained shoulder. She is on Deramaxx for ten days. The one good thing about it is that it seems to be keeping her a little quieter than her usual exuberant way.
Thanks again to all for all of your thoughts.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Ah, the joys of puppyhood. A very good thing they are cute at that age, huh?
ReplyDeleteWhew..! Soo much going on there! Great job mom!! Thanks for the updates!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Maxx
Miss Ciara keeps you all hopping for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
Hugs and belly rubs to all,
Kit
I was wondering how things were going. Glad that GUYS are ... not interested.
ReplyDeleteGood decision on the classes.
Keep us posted.
Thank heavens for the Derramax!
ReplyDeleteOh the joys of packdom.
ReplyDeleteThe last few days, my boyz have had several extra-aggressive moments with each other. Is it because the true "alpha" is out of town? I do my best imitation: arms crossed, deepened voice and that seems to get their attention. But it's disturbing.
I can't imagine what would happen if we had a Ciara in the mix. Sorry about her leg -- but, as you say, it may have a beneficial effect under the circumstances.

The sunshine sure looks good!! I'm glad that Ciara is under house arrest! You sure don't want a dozen puppies that aren't planned running around! I'm sorry Ciara got hurt but at least the medicine is keeping her calm..that's a good thing!! Off to the vet we go...that's always the case around here and has been for many years! Love the pictures! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
ReplyDeleteShe is doing great under your watchful eye and I know you made the right decision about the class.
ReplyDeleteLynn
Thank woo!!!
ReplyDeleteJoan
Never heard of Derramax

Now about this trainig or obedience class... I haves an idea...why don't I train her fur you. Hmmmm, did you say that would be a bad idea? Yea, my mum thought so too....hehehe!!
ReplyDeleteI haves an award fur ya'll on my bloggie.
Puddles
That sounds like a good idea. She'd probably be too distracted in class right now anyway.
ReplyDeleteWoofs and Kisses!

Aww, Phantom, why do you look so concerned? I am sure your mom will let you have your sunbath!
ReplyDeleteWoooos! I am glad to see woo all are coping well with Ciara and her condition, the boys behaving has to be a great relief to Mom...I hope her leg feels better soon!

ReplyDeleteHugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Aww poor girl - injuries and no fun at the same time. Hope you find a good class that starts in the near future. (I know I'm "too late", but IMO the more distractions at a class the better. All our classes were at a train station parking lot with cars and people and dogs and all sorts of distractions coming and going just for that very purpose. But in the end it's all a matter of what you're comfortable with.)
ReplyDeleteAne
Sounds like you have your house drama under control and under your control.
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment in the life of a Dog Mom is there?!!
Hang in there!!!
Beth (the Mama)
Oh, Mama of the Op Pack! You are doing a tremendous job of managing the boys and girl. So sorry she injured herself and that you have to keep such a careful eye on her. And...and... the obedience classes missed...and. So much you are juggling! Beautiful plants, however - hope the next week or two flies by for you all there!
ReplyDeleteHugs xoxo

hi,Ginger n Buddy's mummy here.sorry for coming in late.
ReplyDeleteYeah!we know exactly what u are going through.Ginger hasn't been neutered yet.she seems to have a little erratic heartbeat and we still haven't found a vet who can assure us of a safe heart during anaesthesia.
she started her season when she was 7 months old.no problem whatsoever, till Buddy came last year! and then, for about a week during the heat days, they have to be separated!good that ur boys are behaving well.
u can get the protection pants.ginger wears them for the entire 2/3weeks without any problem.i think ciara will get used to them.
just make sure she drinks a lot and takes iron rich food, though her appetite may be low. Ginger only takes her most fav foods and that too very little during those days.
we hope we can find a reliable n convincing vet soon.
BTW, gin n bud have passed on an award for ur babies. please pick it up from our site.
love n hugs,
Sorry to hear that Ciara hurt her shoulder! I'm sure she will feel better in no time!
ReplyDeleteSounds like your mom is doing a great job!
Mochi
Our mommy let out a big gasp when she read that Ciara hurt herself but we're all glad she's doing okay. We're also glad everyone gets to enjoy some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteGoodness that girl is keeping you busy!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness she is not badly hurt!
Sounds like the right decision re the training right at the moment.
We are so glad that Phantom and Thunder appear unaffected by Ciara's current condition!
Take care

Don't worry Phantom, everyone will leave you alone soon so you can get a great nap in the sun.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that puppies can be a walking catastraphe without even trying.
Remy and Flash
Miss Ciara is definitely keeping you busy. She is so cute. Glad you all got some sun to soak up. Feels good huh?? Also, we added a different gadget to our blog to help people vote in the Shelter Challenge. Now one only has to click on the purple Animal Rescue Site Button at the top right under the header pic. It should take you right to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying & for visiting.

Gosh Ciara, you look so grown up in these photos! We are sorry to hear about your shoulder, but getting it through but thinking about digging, ou're such a tomboy, he he he! We hope things stay quiet for you for a while! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
ReplyDeleteOh those pups! Years ago when we had a female in heat, we thought it was about over, opened the front door for a walk and found about 8 nervous little boy dogs waiting for Snoopy's appearance. The thing is you never know, even with her brothers what they might do or when!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Jo, Stella and Z
Great pictures you all.. Ciara you need to get better real soon. At least you didn't get broke by your brothers like we broke Callie..
ReplyDeleteBig Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
Hi ya all!!
ReplyDeleteOh Ciara!!! I have that puppy exuberance too!! And, have had a few minor injuries....we have to teach ourselves to be careful!! How to do that? I don't know!
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose
We're hope your shoulder feels better soon, Ciara.
ReplyDeleteYou mom is a hawk just like ours is! We don't get away with much of anything!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Oh Ciara! I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder! What bad luck! I'm finding it hard enough to cope with "strict rest" - I can't imagine how hard it must be for a young puppy like yourself! I think you're being very good!
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
You all are SO beautiful! I just never gets tired of looking at your pictures.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that sprained shoulder, Ciara. But at least they didn't put your leg in a sling or anything. I hope you gets feeling better lickety split!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Glad the boys are behaving and that the the Little Miss is being cooperative. Sorry to hear about Ciara's mishap but she will be fine quickly; and right now some mellow out drugs might not be so bad. Most certainly sounds like momster is going to need a recharge when this is all passed.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you your job of warden. Glad Ciara is on the mend!
ReplyDeletePoor Ciara. They do say things come in threes. I'm glad everypup is behaving for now!
ReplyDeleteHouse arrest? Poor Ciara, you can bet she'll make up for it later. I'm just saying...
ReplyDeletemiss moo
(Get better quickly Ciara!)
Ha-roo roo, our word is "unbug" -- is that what Ciara's doing?

ReplyDeleteYou are keeping things interesting for your Mom!
I hope you get better soon!
Take care
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Poor Ciara...in heat, now hurting her leg. Hope it gets better for the sweet baby.
ReplyDeleteshe is a regular at the vet like Tanner was when we first got him! We hope her shoulder feels better.
ReplyDeleteOh no! A digging injury? I feel so bad for Ciara. She shouldn't get injured doing my favorite activity. Perhaps when I am there this summer, I can give her some tips.
ReplyDeleteKat
Ciara, please be more careful. We are known for speed and grace you know. Glad the boys are being polite. While you're resting make a list of new ways to make the human late. It's a game we love around her.
ReplyDeleteHappy Huskador

You had sunshine? We had tons of rain yesterday, again.
ReplyDeleteWith Samba, we were waiting for her to ovulate to breed her. The vet said the norm is around the eighth day. Samba didn't ovulate until the nineteenth day. Don't stop watching her too soon!
Sorry you are grounded Ciara. Your Mom's plants are looking good though!
ReplyDeleteWyatt
