Happy Sunday to all from Master Lightning.
Life at the OP Pack has been very busy, and the Momster says it is all because of me. I don't know what she means, but I do find a lot here to keep me busy.
I had my first visit to the V.E.T. on Friday, and I checked out A-OK. The vet tech brought me to the back room to get weighed and to have my temp checked. I don't know why they had to do THAT, I could have told them my temp was just fine. That part was not fun at all, but they did tell Mom that I was very good. The vet tech brought me back to Mom and told her I weighed 11.5 lbs. Mom looked at him and said "you are kidding, right?" He said, "No, I even weighed him twice because I thought it was wrong." Mom said she knew it could NOT be right but she decided to wait for the vet to come in. The vet lady was very nice; she even sat right on the floor with me and let me kiss her all over her face. She checked me all over, feet, ears, mouth, teeth, nose, tummy, joints, everything!!! Then she was getting ready to give me a SHOT when she looked at the chart and saw the 11.5 lbs. A very quizzical look came over her face and she asked the vet tech if he was sure. He told her he had weighed me twice. Mom chimed in and said she really thought I was closer to 20 lbs. So off to the back room I went again. Yeppers, I am a whopping 26.4 lbs. I guess that makes me a BIG BOY!!!
Mom talked to the nice vet lady about my fear of Dad's shoes and the little bipeds. She suggested that I might try wearing a special D.A.P. collar to help calm me.
You can see it here in this pic. Its effect should last for about 30 days. Mom said it was probably worth trying. I am happy to say that I am doing much better now with Dad's shoes. We will see how things go with the little bipeds when they come back tomorrow. Mom even got one of those collars for Thunder to see if he could get a bit more relaxed around me. We think it is working although we are still far from being good furiends.
All in all my first vet visit wasn't too bad. I even got to meet a really cool Weimaraner puppy in the lobby - she had the prettiest icy blue eyes. Too bad Mom didn't get her pic.
Meanwhile I have been spending a lot of time outside now that it isn't so intensely hot here. Mom was hoping to get some more good group shots like the one in that last post. But my packmates told me that it wasn't a good idea to look at the flashy beast all the time. We need to hold out for some really tasty treats.
So I tried to follow Thunder's lead and put my head down while he looked away from the flashy beast.
This time I tried it again while Phantom gazed off into the distance and away from the Momster.
Here Phantom was trying to remind me that I wasn't doing it right and that I still have a lot to learn.
Hey guys, this isn't much fun. I am going to explore the kingdom, you three can keep at the posing. I am out of here.
So Mom is still trying for another good pic. Hope you all have a great Sunday.
Woos, Lightning
That sounds like a great vet visit except for the temperature thing!! I was wondering about the 11.5 lbs while reading it! Love the pictures...looks like Lightning is fitting right in there. I hope the collar helps his fears!! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! I just had to stop over here when I saw that "Lightning" had also signed your blog comment on my blog! So Thunder's project DID work!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new (most handsome) pup, Momster! Lightning sort of reminds us of sweet Dakota with his white fur and all. Love the eyes!
Elyse and Riley

Khyra and The Golden Khampers
We didn't think that 11.5 lbs was right either because that's what my kitty sisfurs weigh and you look bigger than them! We're glad the vet was so good to you, well, except for that temp thing. We liked your photo shoot attempt too! Hope all goes better with the little bipeds tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of all of you. It must be really hard to get everyone to look at the camera!
ReplyDeleteWoofs & hugs <3,
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Lightning! Woo are a BIG boy!! Have you sniffed Dad's scary shoes when he's not wearing them? Maybe if you know they smell like him they won't be so scary. And, yeah, those little bi-peds sometimes just move too fast, huh. Maybe they should ignore you when they first come over, and then you can go to them...just sayin'
ReplyDeleteyour virtual big bro,
-Gizmo
Even from here we could tell that you're no puny 11 pounder. We like going to the vet because everybody talks to us and pets us and they have the very best treats.
ReplyDeleteMorgan, Tsar and the Porties
You're a big boy!!! You're learning really fast too - always hold out for treats!!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
Happy Sunday to you too, Lightning!
ReplyDeleteWow - you ARE a big boy already!
You weigh almost as much as I weigh! I wear a Thundershirt during times of anxiety, and my mom says it works! Thanks for sharing your pawesome pics!

Here is how I do pictures, Lightening, first I sit for Mom real nice, then I hear the click and move fast! She didn't get me! After two or three of those, she just gives up and lets me go!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Stella
So what in the world had your mom so busy in the vet's office that she could take a Weim puppy pic?
ReplyDeleteHey Lightning! We really like that second group shot! To us, it looks like you are bowing to your elders as a sign of respect towards them. Right???????
ReplyDeleteWoofs,
Tommy
Wow you really are a BIG boy there Lighting! I mean next to you there could be 5 of me!
ReplyDeletewoos, Tessa
Lightning, me tinks your siblings have a lot to learn from YOU. Boo on da flashy beast! :o)
ReplyDeleteWell, I must have missed something along the line. (Oops...sorry) Lightning? Wow, a new pup? And such a sweet, sweet face too. Well, a very belated congratulations and warm welcome to the little (mmm...big)one. So nice to see the four of you together and what beautiful eyes Lightning has! I'm glad your trip to the vet turned out to be just fine! I'd be pretty sad if she said it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteYou look like you're doing a great job of fitting in to me. Great work by all of you in keeping the momster on her toes with the camera!
Bunny
P.S. Tell her she'll get better pics of you all if she puts you in a shady spot!
Awwwwwww... just about as cute as it gets. At least Mom was able to capture ONE good group shot!
ReplyDeleteWe just love the last picture when you decided that enough was enough and you were outta here!
ReplyDeleteYou're too smart, Lightning!
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
Lightning - don't worry, we are sure your big brother will love you soon! Nari hated Alpha (wouldn't look at her, lots of funny husky noises) for the first couple weeks when she came home. But now they are best friends!!
ReplyDeleteGood job with those pictures- very important not to look at that flashy thing! :)
- Starbuck, Nari and Alpha
Hi Lightening, wow you are a big boy already. I am 15 weeks old and weigh 15 pounds (7 kgs). I'm sorry but what is the collar you are having to wear. Mum hasn't heard of them.
ReplyDeleteWe have little people come to our home three days a week (mum is a carer) and I find it very interesting to sniff them through the door and then sometimes mum lets them give me lots of treats. I like them now. They know to be gentle and quiet at first and when my tail wags they can be noisy and I don't care.
Hope this helps. No worries, and love, Stella
He is such a good looking little guy. What is this collar? I hope it helps. You did get some good pictures even if they weren't looking at the camera.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your first visit to the vet wasn't "that" bad.
ReplyDeleteAlready 26 pounds. WOW!
I am so far behind on catching up on blogs that I didn't even realize that Thunder had such a fantastic project underway...and now completed! Welcome, Lightning! You sure are cute and are learning about that flashy beast from the best!
ReplyDeleteOh Lightning, I have a feeling you have a lot to teach your pack!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Lightning, I thought YOU and THUNDER had come to Live on my hill last night... butt then I realized you would NEVER scare me like that stuffs did.
ReplyDeleteWow! Grrrreat visit to the Dawgtor. You are gonna be a BIG guy fur sure.
you are adorable. Bet there is a lot of babysitting going on there
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Ashley Pumpernickel also is scared of the flashy beast. You guys have some great family shots there.
ReplyDeleteMocha Barney, Ashley Pumpernickel and Winniechurchill
Silly Vet tech forgot to change the scale from kilos to pounds when she weighed you!
ReplyDeleteTreats from the little bipeds sounds like a great idea, something you could learn to like very quickly.
Nell
Hey Lightning, I totally understand that you have way too much puppy bizness to attend to. You don't have time for photo shoots!!
ReplyDeleteWyatt
We notice Ciara being a goody-goody and posing well. Daisy is our poser. Your sibe brothers are giving you some good advice Ligtning.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Congrats on an excellent V.E.T. visit!
ReplyDeleteWe love the pics!
my gosh you are gorgeous huh? what a looker you are and so photogenic! hey--your vet had the scale set to kilos not pounds. 11.5 kilos works out to about 26 pounds--i bet that is what happened. in Canada we use kilos.
ReplyDeleteYou sure are cute. What's with vets and the temperature thing?! Both of my girls just glare and tell the tech how RUDE that is...
ReplyDeleteYou gave me a good idea (the D.A.P. collar). Sage has been freaking out when we board her here lately and there are a couple more coming up soon. I'll talk to her vet about it.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see your settleing down with the pack young pup :-) I had my shots a few weeks ago, the reason why I am out and about over the bridge. Need to have my micro chip on Wednesday. All dogs need one. So they tell me, my mum isn't coming with us, she said it will hurt her more than me ..... luv's... Young Freya Rose Blossom X
ReplyDeleteWow, big difference between 11.5 and 26.4. I wonder how the vet tech could be so far off.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're settling in so nicely, Lightening. Hopefully Thunder will be a little more accepting too.
Lightning is adorable and your dogs are well behaved.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a very nice vet and that all is well, Lightning (even if it took a little work to get your correct weight...heck, I weigh 19 lbs)!
ReplyDeleteMomma asks you to let momster know that she is well after our little Saturday "incident." Momma always stays in the open within earshop of people. She doesn't want to carry pepper spray for fear of one of the WDA getting a blast but she does always have her cell phone. And if it had come to it, she is practical enough to just hand over the camera...things are just not worth getting hurt over. Really, she says if we were more upset and growling she would have panicked more but since we were wary but calm she was confident that all was going to be fine. Thanks so much for your concern...sometimes it feels good to be "mothered" a bit!
We thinks the 4 of you are keeping the Mom on your toes. Hope the collars work. We needs one of those for Scylla.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your vet visit went well! I bet you got lots of ooohs and ahhhs at how adorable you are!!! Sorry about the temp thing, that is no fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the almost group shots!
