Ciara: "Hold on a sec, Lightning. I have my eye on a bunny in the neighbor's yard."
Ciara: "OK, he disappeared now. Personally, I preferred the muddy dirt much better."
Mom: "Well, get used to it, Princess. And please leave the new sod alone. I just might have to cut off the duck jerky supply for a certain mud puppy."
Yes, the "dog" patio is more or less finished. We had it installed to try to get rid of the patch of dirt (mud) at the base of the deck stairs where we could never get grass to grow because the dogs' feet hit it so hard going up and down the stairs. There was about a one foot buffer around the completed patio where we are trying some sod. It isn't doing too well right now, but maybe with a few weeks and some persistent supervision, we can get it to grow. Right now, Ciara is exercising her "ungardening" skills in trying to remove it. Next spring we are either going to try a few shrubs around the patio or maybe just some potted plants in the corners. Mom has little hope for shrubs with three boy pups in the pack:) And yes, little Lightning, who isn't so little any more, has already learned to lift his leg at only five months old.
We will leave you with a short video of some sibe fun. Sorry there are no sightings of Phantom in the video. He has had a few off days and is preferring the sunpuddles in the family room.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Oh I love the brick pattern. we are having the same problem with my duo right off the deck too. We have areas fenced off in the yard right now that we are working on getting the grass to grow and be nice and plus before taking it down to better withstand the 4 legged monsters. LMAO Lil Light already lifting his leg. That cracks me up. We send our love to mr thunder.
ReplyDeletewe love the brick pattern and think your dog patio looks very nice. Potted plants could be a very good solution for boy doggies.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting a new septic system and while us cats are hiding under the furniture, Fenris is keeping an eye on things from the window and would like to be out there in the middle of them supervising and getting in the way.
Wow, what a pretty patio! Perfect for warm Sibe naps in the sun. I'm thinking the planters are the way to go.
ReplyDeleteGrr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
The dog patio is fabulous! Lucky furkids you have there... and of course they are soooo pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteStamped concrete? I ask, because new walkways are in our future, and the Knight always kills those discussions by insisting he wants a patio off the front of the house. Yours is pretty enough that isn't as scary as it has been... but don't tell him I said that!
ReplyDeleteThe dog patio looks great! Nice way to handle the dirt situation. We have three bald spots in the yard, but they are randomly located. I think Dad might have gotten a little happy with the weed killer. Good luck with the shrubs!
ReplyDeleteKitty+Coco
The patio is lovely. Good luck with that growing grass and shrubs business. I think I've finally given up.
ReplyDeleteOooh I love youw new patio, pawfect fow bouncing balls don't wowwy, I'm suwe you'll find some mud somehow.

Your patio stones are very nice. I love a circle! As for grass or shrubs, nothing works for us too much. But good luck at whatever you decide to do.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Jo and Stella
Patio looks great....hope it works.
ReplyDeleteLightning looks like he wants to join in the game with Thunder....but isn't too sure.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Gorgeous and I love the pattern!
ReplyDeleteNiiiice! And I love how you guys are making sure the sod is all nice and secure by trampling over it! That should help it grow even better!! ;)
ReplyDeleteGet better Mr. Phantom! Kisses!
I like how towards the end, the big kids were playing and Lightning was just running around them in circles :)
ReplyDeleteLove the patio, I hope it does its job!
Gentle woos to Phantom, sending feel better energy and lots of positive thoughts. The launch pad looks great and WILL be the perfect sun warmed place for autumn Sibe naps...if the energizer bunnies ever wind down enough from their zoomies to need one!
ReplyDeleteOMD/OMC I know you did not ask, and probably don't want, my feline opinion...but that never stopped me (MOL) here goesL
ReplyDeleteYou 4 beautiful woofies are the luckiest woofies to have 2 leggers who installed a special paw landing pad just for your tooties. Just think how nice it will feel come winter not to be stepping in a puddle of cold mud that might require you all to have the dreaded "b" word.
Hugs from your BFFF,
Madi
PS Mom has an opinion too (Southern girls give opinions free of charge BTW)!! The patio is gorgeous....I love the pattern what perfect solution to your problem.
ReplyDeleteMom

Is there a choice :-) ?
:-) x x x Babies win :-) x x x
To bad they didn't keep a little mud box for ya
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Oooo. We has one of those pawtios at the bottom of our deck steps, too coz of the muds mom says. But see, when you dig (on that new sod there) make sure your behind is on the pawtio so when the dirt kicks back on it, it makes mud ON the pawtio. Ingenious, no?
ReplyDeleteLove the new deck! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe patio looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteGee, remember when you had to keep a leash on Lightning so he wouldn't slip through the fence??
The patio looks great

LOVE your new outdoor decor. I know how hard it is to train the young ones, but your post gives me hope that it can be done! [Ciara and Lightning are WAY advanced!]
ReplyDeleteYour patio is very pretty! We like the design! It looks like a great place to hang out before doing those zoomies! I wish I could do zoomies with you since whenever I try to do those with my sisfurs I get in trouble since Mommy thinks I'll hurt them. Whatever. I'll dream of zooming with all of you!
ReplyDeleteWoos,
Sadie
I love the brick! Very nice! And just think every time the dogs come down and run on it, they'll be filing their nails at the same time! Brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Can someone pls fetch these pups a couple of loungers and some martinis? Lol!
ReplyDeleteOh! We do like that new patio! We needs something like that here! You are looking good!

ReplyDeleteHi Everybuddy, your paving is fabulous but mud is always the best. Great zoomies and we can't believe how tall Lightning is now. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteThe patio is freakin' awesome!
ReplyDeleteMango Momma
Love your new patio, but I know what you mean about shrubs surviving male dogs! I ended up potting everything that wasn't behind some kind of fence!
ReplyDeleteWe love your new patio! We are sure you are going to spend some splendid time on it.
ReplyDeleteBig Nose Pokes
The Thugletsx
It will certainly help to keep you and your Mom's carpet cleaner - Love the video, nothing like a good game of bitey face.
ReplyDeleteLove your new patio! Mom thinks that design is super cool and artistic :) Fun video, too!
ReplyDeleteHope the sunpuddles made Phantom feel better!
The Road Dogs
It's unanimous: the moms love the patio and the doggies love the mud. Mama is decidedly envious of your lovely, sturdy new patio. And we do have enough mud in the rest of the yard that we could spot her a patio.
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby
When in doubt:

ReplyDeleteps. Sorry about all these comments in a row we only get to visit once a week b/c of moms OT but we want to go back and read all we missed from the week. :)
Yes, the dogs are so hard on the greens...I've given up on parts of my yard!
ReplyDeleteNice zoomies!
