Just a quick update on Lightning.
Sad puppy after putting him in the soft collar. He hates it. but the good news is that he is doing well otherwise.
As for the Monster, she had her surgery yesterday to put in a plate and 8 screws to keep her radius together. And she did not have to stay in the hospital. She is doing pretty well today now that she has stopped all the pain meds and is relying on ibuprofen for the pain. The narcotics prescribed just make her loopy and sick to her stomach. Her main pain is in the area where the bone broke. She does not have to wear a cast, an no e-collar either:) We just need her to heal.
We are reading your blogs, but mat not be able to comment. We will also be missing the duct tape fun too:) Of course we could try to duct tape Mom's arm - BOL.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Thank you for the update! My mom has been concerned for your mom.
ReplyDeleteHope you both continue to heal this weekend! Our thoughts are with you!
Stewey
Sorry to hear that mama had to have majore surgery. My sister, who is a mail carrier in Wichita, had her radius break but she was stuck in a cast and did not have surgery...they just put her under to re-align her bones. Yuck! Anywho...she is healed and I know your mama will heal too. Poor Lightning...but at least its the soft collar and not the stupid plastic ones. :) God Bless and Have A Woo-nderful Weekend!
ReplyDeleteMuch Luvums,
Mama Mindy & The Slimmer Puggums
OH YOUR POOR MOM... I feel really bad that she broke her arm and had to have surgery... I hope that none of those screws ever keep her from getting on a PLANE! hehehehe
ReplyDeleteAS IF she would EVER go away and Leave All of YOU.. BaaaaWaaaah
You take good care of BOTH your MOM and Lightning... and just READ and enjoy and NOT WORRY about Commenting... butt... BUTT we would really like some more updates on the PATIENTS... if you could.
OH... and Make SURE they BOTH take PLENTY of Naps and get TONS of TREATS. That will make them feel better.
We're so glad your Mom is home! We know she'll get better much faster with you all watching over her. We're also glad she doesn't have to wear an e-collar!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
No e-collar?? That doesn't seem fair. Our Mom got sick from the pain meds, too. She said the pain was only bad for a couple days. She had trouble sleeping the first couple nights and Bentley sat up with her.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your Mom and Lightning both feel lots better really soon.
Morgan, Tsar and the Porties
Sissy's slinging drool for both of you. (It's gross... but Mama says it is what bassets do to cheer on their ailing friends.) Me - Gretchen Greer - I have crossed paws for you.
ReplyDeletewe hope EVERYONE heals well

Oh, I'm so sorry this is late - I'm behind on reading blogs too coz my humans are so busy with the househunting/moving to Sydney thing...but I'm so sorry to hear about your Momster's arm! OUCH! That must have really hurt. I'm glad she's come through her operation OK and hope that everything mends itself quickly.
ReplyDeleteOh - and Lightning too! Gosh, I've missed so much! Congrats on having the Big Op (or maybe congrats is the wrong word - hee! hee!) - that is a MUCH nicer collar than I had to wear when I had my Operation - mine was horrible hard plastic and it was so huge, it was like a satellite dish and I got stuck trying to go through doorways!!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
That is one sad pup but he will heal like...Lightning!
ReplyDeletePoor Momster! I hope she heals quickly as well.
We hope your Mom and Lightning heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteThor and Jack
Oh the poor momster! In a way she be furry lucky. Furst off, coz she duss not has to wear the cone of shame. Secondly, we reskood a dog from the shelter once wot had the eggzakt same brokened bones and had to have a plate and screws put in, too. Mom rememmers the screws cost like 75 green papers each and she sayed she could has gotted them at the hardware store fur 75 pennies each, BOL. Anyways, he had to stay quiet in the crate jail with the cone of shame on fur THREE MONTHS! It woz horribulls. So lucky momster does not has to stay in jail. Just be sure she duss not chew on her cast or walk on it, k? And cofur it with a plastic bag if'n she has to go out in the rain so it duss not get wet. OK, those be my werds of advice from furstpaw eggsperiences. (Pee Ess: That dog healed all up, got adopted and be living happily efur after.)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I looked when mom put that stoopid soft lampshade on my head, Lightning!
ReplyDeleteWe're sending tons of AireZen your way. We hope you both feel 100% soon!

The comfy cone is totally the way to go. They don't call it comfy for nothing. Glad the momster doesn't need one as it might result in her running in to walls.
ReplyDeleteNow that she has bolts in her arm she is like robo-mom, right?
Slobbers,
Mango
Woo, Lightning. It's a rite of passage - you'll survive and grow up to be a big dog.
ReplyDeleteAs for the momster, we are sending her healing vibes. I'm glad that she doesn't need a cast, and I hope that everything heals super well so that it doesn't hurt in the future. She's catching up to me - I have 20 screws (plus plates) in my back. She and I can light up a metal detector together!
I hope the rest of you take good care of your mom and Lightning. :)
ReplyDeleteYou take good care of your mum and Lightning and don't worry about us. We'll all be fine until you have time to come round and see us all again when it's a bit calmer.
ReplyDeleteLots of love and licks, Winnie
Tell your Mom that healing her arm well is more important then commenting/posting. Our Mommy knows it is very hard to resist the lure of the computer. Glad to hear that both your Mom and Lightening are doing well. Sending more healing purrs.

ReplyDeleteBunny
Say, you could make a swell sling for your arm out of duct tape . . .or I could send you my nice sling I used for my arm surgery a couple of years ago. Sometimes it just feels good to be able to rest the hurting place.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of you every day, Mrs. OP and hope you heal very fast. Is PT in your future??.
Love and hugs,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
Duck tape Mom's arm.....now I would say that's a real winner.

I wonder if the momster is taking "look pathetic" lessons from Lightning in order to milk the situation to the nTH degree? ;)It sure looks like Lightning has got it down pat. Something tells me he's getting some good coaching! I KNOW Lightning can't get a treat without everyone else getting one, too!
