A couple of us have reason to be thankful today.
Phantom is very grateful for a sunny day and a warm sunpuddle to enjoy a nice long nap.
OK, Mom - I AM thankful to be home. I am thankful you came and rescued me. I am thankful to be back with my pack. BUT do you really think I am going to be thankful for THIS??? And I can't believe you think I am going to wear a lampshade on my head for TWO WEEKS!!! Some of my cellmates at that vet prison told me it makes a very good ramming weapon - no, that isn't meant to be a threat.
I must admit I am a bit worn out, maybe I will just rest here a while and take a snooze like my big brother Phantom.
The Momster here - yes, Lightning is home and he is NOT a happy camper at all. It is no surprise that he doesn't like his new headgear. Phantom has been kind enough to let him borrow his Comfy Cone. I will be switching the plastic cone (truly a deadly weapon to the legs) and moving the little guy to the more comfortable Comfy Cone once he wakes up. Hopefully it will fit inside the crate for bedtime. Lightning did very well at the vet's. Everyone loved him. They told me he greeted them this morning with a very big wooing song. I didn't have the heart to tell them that he was just letting them know that he wanted his breakfast and he wanted it NOW. Since the patient is now in a deep sleep, I will express his thanks to all for the good wishes and thoughts from yesterday's post.
Woos ~ Phantom, Lightning, and the Momster
We all hate those plastic hats because of the pain they inflict. You might think about a no-bite collar. They don't work if the injury is to the front legs but for anything else they keep the head and neck from turning and my dogs say they're more comfy than the cones.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're going into a softer collar. Buddy did some damage to his neck trying to get his hard cone off. :(
ReplyDeleteWhoever invented those darn plastic cones??? Good luck with the soft one, you DO look very cute in it!!
ReplyDeleteMiley and Maggie
oh, what great invention,,,comfy collar. Does that mean no bruises on your legs too?
ReplyDeleteGood for Lightning and good for Phantom (soak up that sun buddy)
Glad to hear there's so much to be thankful for! I'm sure Lightning will be much happier with the soft cone rather than the cone of death! Ouch, those things do hurt when used as a battering ram!
ReplyDeletePhantom, enjoy that sunpuddle! Lightning, we're glad you are home resting after your tutoring! It's nice of your big brother to let you use his comfy cone too. We hope you heal up quickly!
ReplyDeleteYes those plastic cones can leave scars...
ReplyDeleteStop on by for a visit

We were going to suggest the softer cone -- but then saw you already have one.

So pleased Lightening is home safe and sound!
ReplyDeleteWe have never had to wear those awful lampshades here..we always just wear a t.shirt!

Isn't it terrible to wake up with a lampshade on your head....makes us think it must have been SOME party!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're home and going into a more comfortable cone!
ReplyDeleteThor and Jack
Phantom will explain why lampshades are cool
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
That comfy cone sounds PAWESOME!
ReplyDeleteHope Lightning will feel better soon!
Stewey
Poor Lightning...Just wait till he finds out he's missin' a couple of parts....he really won't be very hap-pee at all!
ReplyDeleteSun puddles are the best - although I must admit we have been enjoying the nice cold temps outside today. Lightening looks so unhappy with his hoody - why does he have to wear it for two weeks?
ReplyDeleteGlad you found that sunpuddle, Phantom!
ReplyDeleteOh Lightning, those cones are very, very annoying, but it sounds like your nice Mom ha a more pleasant alternative in store for you.
Woofs,
Tommy
oh gosh im so happy he is home and doing great. I was thinking of the little guy today. LOL he welcomed them with little wooooos, your so sweet to let the vet think he was just saying he loves them :) hahaha.
ReplyDeleteOh Phantom looks super comfy in the sun spot.
Rut Roh! Clearly I missed an event in OP Land!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Lightning is home, safe and sound. Now I am going to go see what I missed. Brain surgery?
Happy, Waggin' Tails, FUREVER!
Stumpy and me
Poor Lightning... Sorry he missed his breakfast.. and NOW has to wear the dreaded... CONE OF SHAME...
ReplyDeleteI suppose he will tell Ernie all about it... and then I will have trouble getting him in Jennifer Jeep ... when HIS turn comes. Whine Whimper WHINE. I can hear it now.
So glad that Lightning is back home and just slightly lighter ;)
ReplyDeletewoof -Tucker
Oh oh, we don't like the sound of this. Hope Lightning is feeling good soon. We must ask mum what the heck is going on. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteI wonder how the knones work on arms?
ReplyDeleteHugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Glad Lightning is home and is recovering well. those soft cones are a godsend. We are sending White Dog Army healing energy and positive thoughts that the new "Big Boy" is back to normal in no time.
ReplyDeleteFriday is the Blog Blast for Peace day around the world...will you join us?
I'm glad to hear that Lightning is home and resting well! I'm not sure I'd have the heart to make him wear the dreaded cone...
ReplyDeleteSo glad you made in thru Lightning and are home safe. Dude, what kind of stuff did they give you over there that you came home with a lampshade on your head??? :)
ReplyDeleteYou better save that cone fur the momster - sounds like she gonna be needing it. (I is reading bloggies in backwards order.)
ReplyDeleteSo happy the Lightning is home and resting. I tend to think of the cone as good training. It's going to happen, and it teaches you good coping skills.
ReplyDeleteI'm not well with change, but I will lift my head willingly to fit through the cone. I learned early that it's not punishment. It's just a thing.
Hope that helps.
With love from the Bleu
Been there, done that! I had a soft cone too, but when I managed to take that off, mommy put the hard one on (but only when she wasn't around to watch me). Hope you heal fast! :)
ReplyDeleteWoofs & hugs, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
The softer lampshade does sound better but we hope you get rid of all lampshades soon, Lightning!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
Sorry we haven't had a chance to visit in awhile and are so behind. Healing purrs for Lightening. We are wishing him a speedy recovery so he can get rid of that cone.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the comfy cone... will have to check into that! Hope Lighting is mending!
ReplyDeleteBokeh here...just want to say I feel your pain my friend. I had my big boy surgery just awhile ago and had to wear that same darn cone. Yuck! Hang in there buddy.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those cones suck. I hope the soft one works better.
ReplyDeleteI know Phantom loved that sunpuddle. You can never have too many, especially in November.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Good to see he is home and resting well. : )
ReplyDeleteOh dear not the plastic cone monster! We hate them so much, we try and do a dance to stop people putting them on.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon!
