Tuesday Talk

Phantom here today.  I am home alone with Mom and Dad. The other two have gone to the kennel because we have lots of rain today so they can't stay outside while the tile is being installed.  Lightning just wants to bark at the tile guy, and Ciara just wants to be his best buddy. So Mom decided they were better off at camp.  We were ALL headed there tomorrow anyway, so they get to have an extra day.

As you can see, I am not exactly very perky today.  I paid a visit to the vet yesterday but they couldn't find anything obvious wrong with me - that's because I am a very strong stoic boy and I don't like to let anyone know when I am hurting.  But Mom heard me cry out a few times last night, and I am having lots of trouble getting up and down.  A couple of months ago, I was having some trouble with my right front leg/shoulder not wanting to support me very well.  I had some anti-inflammatory meds and some quiet rest (nothing unusual for me), and Mom thought I was doing better.  The vet had said if I wasn't doing better, we might need to do some x-rays to check out that joint - and he also said something about that bad "C" word and my bones.  Well, I was doing better, but I started stumbling again last week.  Mom thinks that is the source of my discomfort.  She doesn't even want to think about what it could be, but she knows the time has come to find out for sure.

SOOOOOOO, when she dropped off Ciara and Lightning, the vet said to bring me up for those x-rays since I hadn't had anything to eat this morning.  BUT when Mom got home to get me, she discovered that Dad was just trying to be helpful and gave me my food.  AND surprisingly I ate it all up.  So now I have to wait until tomorrow for those x-rays because they have to make me sleepy in order to get some good pics of my bones.

Thanks to all of you for the good thoughts and wishes.  I hope I have good news to report after my tests.

Woos - Phantom

  3. You and Reilly are so much alike...he is a stoic old soul too. We will be keeping our paws crossed for you and for some good test results. Mom says to let you know about the cold lazer treatment that I had for my back....it not only helps the sore spots but it releases chemicals in the body that make you feel good too. I loved it so much I would try jumping up on the table I was so eager to have my treatment. Oh - we sent your chicken yesterday - you should have it Wednesday or Thursday

  6. Ha, go figure, the one day you need him to NOT eat, he would actually eat! We experience something similar with Chloe on a regular basis...she never has been a really good eater (mainly because she's so picky), so now to try to get her to eat, she gets her dry dog food, some wet dog food, lunch meat, and chicken flavored medication in liquid form. She still turns her nose up to the food most days.

Hope the X-rays just show arthritis or something like that, and not the big C. Riley gets sedated for hip X-rays, because they have to stretch her legs out and get the images just right, but she hasn't been sedated for her knee and back X-rays (surprisingly--she's usually wild!).

Also, we hope the tile installation goes off without a hitch today. It's really interesting to watch tile being installed, it's almost like an art form.
