(Earlier post below this one.)
Well, I am home and I think I am fine.
I can't see back there, but I am almost afraid to let you look. That's because I heard the client coming in to the lobby say, "Wow, what happened to his tail?" Sheesh, that wasn't very nice, was it?
So here is what I can't see. Mom says that it doesn't look much different to her other than they stole some more of my furs all the way up into my back, and it is a little cleaner-looking. Mom thought the big lump would actually be gone, but Dr. B. explained that the cryotherapy will hopefully kill the tissues in the tumor and with time the lump will slowly slough off. Right now she says it looks like I have a second tail growing. Dr. B. also zapped that small one above the meanie and gave the one below it that he did last week an additional freeze.
Ciara and Lightning told me it was a good thing I could not see back there because they think the tip of my once floofy tail looks like a poodle puff - c'mon, be nice to me.
Well, it is what it is, I guess. I know I got lots of pampering and treats from Dr. B. and his assistant, but don't you think I deserve some of those dried beef treats you have there in your human paws, Mom?
Woos - Phantom
From Mom: Phantom never ceases to amaze me. Dr. B. said he is quite the old trooper, never flinching for his injection and standing very still with a little support from his helper during the procedure. Here's hoping this process kills the tumor and we don't have to deal with any more bleeding. Thanks to all for your support and caring.
Oh Phantom we are giving you such a big big hug!!

Phantom, I've been thinking about you so much. What a wonderful boy you are. I'm sending healing thoughts your way and a big thank you to your Mom for always taking such good care of you.
ReplyDeleteLove, Cupcake
I'm so glad that you are such a trooper, Phantom, and that your eyes look so happy and sparkly. Life isn't easy, is it? I just saw your mom's earlier post about the way you hold your tail. We had a Lab who lived to be almost as old as you, and he held his tail in odd ways too - most often straight down between his legs. He also had weakness in his hind end so I'm betting that your mom's guess is right.
ReplyDeleteI hope that cryotherapy works miracles. We all love you, Phantom!
Phantom, we're always so behind and didn't know what you're dealing with. Our thoughts are with you.

ReplyDeleteOh, hey, Phantom. Your tail looks much better to me - not burst or bleeding or anything. Looks nice and clean now, which should be a good thing, right?
I did notice that your tail seemed to be kinda at different angles, but if your doc isn't concerned about it I wouldn't be either.
