This month we received a package of Acana Mackerel and Greens dog treats. Holy Mackerel - did we really see that there is MACKEREL in that bag???? We love all things fish, most especially mackerel, but Mom doesn't like the smell of mackerel in the can. We only get it once in a while. So you can imagine how excited we were to try these treats.
From the Chewy.com website:
Description:
Diet-sensitive dogs have met their match with limited ingredient ACANA Mackerel & Greens Singles Formula Dog Treats. These nourishing bites are made with fresh wild-caught New England mackerel as the single, easily digestible animal protein that’s full of omega-3. It’s gently freeze-dried to preserve the natural flavors and nutrients and combined with Kentucky spinach and sun-dried sarsaparilla root. Spinach provides a rich source of fiber, and sarsaparilla root supports healthy digestion for a nutritious treat that’s easy for the most sensitive pet to digest.
Key Benefits:
We read some of the reviews by customers who had already purchased these treats at Chewy.com, and it appears that dogs with allergies or food sensitivities did very well with them too. Some people also found them to be very good to use for training.
As you can see, they are not too big and not too small. We must admit they don't look too appetizing (do they sort of resemble something that we don't want to mention:), but oh that smell!!! We couldn't wait to sink our teeth into one or two or three or more.
We both focused intently on that bag in Mom's hands. The smells emanating from the bag had us in a trance.
We simultaneously did the required down and stay. But we were so hoping there would be a quick release.
Up close and pawsonal as Lightning gets his first taste.
And Misty gobbled her taste from Mom's paw very nicely.
Our very attentive posture and gaze have to tell you that we really loved these mackerel and greens goodies. We give them a solid 8 paws up. And we are pretty sure that the Momster in front of us is going to let us have some more.
If you want to try these treats, visit Chewy.com HERE. While you are there, check out all the other wonderful products Chewy.com offers, and they do so with great service, good prices, and a wide variety. We received this product at no cost to us in exchange for a fair and honest review. Aside from Mom's sensitive nose to the smell of mackerel, we found no negatives with this treat. Thank you, Chewy.com and Ms. Natalie.

ReplyDelete"We both focused intently on that bag in Mom's hands. The smells emanating from the bag had us in a trance." I can truly identify with this. Mom bought some deli corn beef at the grocery store today. It was in a zip lock back in the grocery back and as you said above..."the smells were emanating from the bag and I was in a trance'!
Hugs madi your bfff

Holy Mackerel, you two sure enjoyed that yum!
ReplyDeleteYum yum! They don't look that grreat, but I could practically smell them myself from your description!
ReplyDeleteThose sound AWESOME! Our mom apparently gave our great-brothers and great-sisters mackerel ONE TIME from a can and swore to never bring it in the house again. Can you believe that? Something about not being able to get the stench off her hands for days ... I dunno. It sounded GREAT to me! Something tells me we won't be allowed to try these treats. :(
ReplyDeleteYours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
