Tuesday Talk - #ChewyInfluencer

It is always fun to get an unexpected package in the mail.  A few days ago Chewy.com sent us a surprise package so that we could try a special product that would be good for our health.

Dr. Lyon's line of products has introduced three new products, one of which we received.  We have Dr. Lyon's Liver Supplements. There are also two other supplements, one for calming and one for healthy skin and coat.

We decided that we would let Lightning be the one who gets to try the liver supplements.  Mom thinks he would also be a great candidate for Dr. Lyons Calming Aid supplements too, and she will probably order some of them too.  But for now let's talk about the liver supplements.

As we all know, for both humans and canines, the liver is a vitally important organ in the body. The liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.  So it is very important to keep one's liver healthy.

From the Chewy.com website, we found this information about the Dr. Lyon's supplements:

Description

Help support your dog’s liver health with Dr. Lyon’s Liver Support Soft Chews Dog Supplement. Guided by science and inspired by nature, they’re formulated with herbal extracts and key nutrients known to help maintain a healthy liver, including silymarin—a natural compound found in milk thistle—plus turmeric extract sourced from turmeric root, and n-acetyl cysteine—a naturally occurring amino acid. N-acetyl cysteine is added to help promote normal liver function including detoxification, to support overall health for your dog. Plus, these soft chews are naturally flavored with cheese and chicken liver so they’re a delicious treat you can give as daily maintenance.

Key Benefits

  • Helps promote liver health with key herbal extracts and nutrients formulated to assist in maintaining normal liver function.
  • Formulated with silymarin, a naturally occurring compound sourced from the milk thistle plant, plus turmeric to help support the liver’s normal detoxification process.
  • Contains n-acetyl cysteine to work synergistically with the herbal ingredients to help promote healthy liver function in dogs of all sizes.
  • Naturally flavored with cheese and chicken liver so they’re a supplement dogs can actually enjoy; give daily according to your dog’s weight.
  • Comes in a convenient container with an easy-to-open lid to preserve maximum freshness.

Now Lightning is a very healthy dog, no issues that we know of (other than his intense fear of moving things like bikes and skateboards), but he is also our "senior" dog since he is now SEVEN years old.  So why not take whatever steps one can to keep him healthy!

That sounds like a good plan to me!!!  AND because I am a 70 lb. hunk of muscle, I get to have 3 1/2 chews per day!!!  A 90 count bottle is fairly reasonably priced AND your first item will be 50% off at Chewy.com.

Maybe one day Misty and Timber will get some liver supplements too, but for now they are all content to get another kind of tasty treat from Mom.

We received this product at no cost to us and no obligation to share our thoughts with you.  But we think Chewy.com deserves a shout out for another great product AND for its thoughtfulness for its customers.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  12. Lola and Tess are using the liver support chews because of the great ingredients. They have both had high liver values on their blood tests, so these may help. Norma Jean and Sebastian are using the skin and coat chews because they're both itchy. I like Dr Lyon products. The probiotic is the best we've used.

  13. I may add a liver supplement for Bentley. They both get a senior supplement and we love calming supplements. Haha! Bentley hates thunderstorms so we try everything.

  15. How in the world is it possible that Lightning is your senior dog! Time flies!

I haven't heard about these Dr. Lyon's supplements before. Ruby has a few health issues and it sounds like these might be a good addition for her. Funny enough, her vet is named Dr. Lyons!
