Happy Tuesday and Happy Birthday to Sweet Misty

MY STORY by Misty

It's a story both happy and sad, the way it is with all humans and all Woos I think.  And when I am resting and thinking about me and my life, I guess it is the way it is meant to be.  And it is the way we learn to love, to share, to give ...

For me it began in October of 2016 when I entered what would become my always and forever home.  I'd found a wonderful Mom and Dad, a human family of aunts and uncles and adorable cousins ... a big yard for playtime, toys and beds and food and treats.  But, number one on the list of "bests" ...this really very big, I mean really really BIG and awesome dog ~ like me but bright white ~ and his name was Lightning.  He was now my big brother, my protector, my guardian, and would be in the years to come.  How very much I loved him from the moment I saw his bright blue and golden brown eyes, that matched my own!

The years rolled by with happy days of sunshine and play.  I grew up and there were holidays and family getting together.  Lightning taught me many things and Mom trained me toward good behavior.  Then came a time when our family changed.  I was no longer the little one any more.  One day, on September 10, 2017, the family that was my first home showed up at my forever home with another tiny Woo pupster, and he was called Timber.  I found out that Timber even has the same Sibe Mom and Dad as me!!!  Woo, woo … I was the luckiest girl in the whole-wide-woo-world: to have a big brother AND a baby brother!

Oh my, was I that tiny once upon a time?  Timber was adorable!  And now I could be as Lightning was, teaching little Timber all kinds of things, protecting him and of course, loving him.

So we became three.  Three Woos!!!  And was this new little one ever rambunctious and playful!!!  Whereas Lightning liked his private space and time to rest, Timber was nonstop, get up and go!!!  And he still is !!!  Yet as I write today, I adore them both for who they are and the way they are.

Time passes.  Life is good.  Our family is happy and well.  The momster tells our story often on this blog created just for us, pictures and memories of fun days and silly things and crazy hats and special moments together.  Yet life can change and as a new year arrives tragedy enters our home.  My loving and wonderful Mom is injured in a fall, my amazing Dad has failing eyesight, and dear brother Lightning is suffering from health issues.  I am in need of health care and possible surgery.  The Woo family is suddenly overwhelmed.  This story is chronicled on our blog, so I shall not retell it here, but I did try to understand when the hard decision was made to rehome me.  Though my heart hurt I knew other hearts hurt just as much when we parted that day.

There is a line in a poem I love, “all creatures great and small, the Lord God bless them all” and I know that I was truly blessed.  Those weeks and months away from home have been banished from my memory now, and during those times the presence of our Angels Dakota, Phantom, Thunder and Ciara was with me at all times to comfort and sustain me.  Hope reigned always inside me.  And as you all know, that hope became our "Misty Miracle".

And now as my new year, my fourth year, begins, I know it will be the best year ever of my life.  We are again together, a family ~ the Woos.  As it was always meant to be.  Thank you, Mom.  Thank you, Dad.

So that's my story.  And now on to the future.  Mom says that six months ago today she made the most heartbreaking decision she has ever had to make in her VERY long life.  And two months ago her heart broke again when she learned more about those months  I was gone.  Although she never lost hope, she truly never dreamed she would be able to celebrate this day WITH ME HOME.  Yes, today is my FOURTH birthday, and it is a dream come true for Mom and Dad.

The Momster said I should wait on the front steps because the mail man might bring something special for me.

And she was right.  My beautiful family (with a lot of help from our dear friend Ann of Zoolatry) sent me the most fabulous and love-filled birthday wishes.

So there you have it - it truly IS a HAPPY TUESDAY for me and my family.

I don't think I could ask for anything more - I am such a lucky and blessed girl!!!

OH WAIT - just one more thing:)

Woos - Misty the Birthday Girl and her whole family - Dad, Mom, Lightning, Misty, Timber and Piper (he started my big day with a beautiful serenade)

  12. This is the loveliest and happiest post we have seen in a long time. We were also so sad when you had to leave, and even sadder when we heard from you Mom what had happened in the intervening months. But we believed that you would be back, and we are so very happy that you can celebrate your fourth birthday surrounded by your wonderful family, both woo and human!

Many Happy Returns of the day, Misty!

  18. Dear Misty I wish you the very BEST and most wonderful birthday EVER! Life has a lot of disappointments as well as joy and sometimes you never "see it coming". You survived that six months away like a champ - it wasn't fun but it was necessary and you were brave and strong. Now everyone is back together again and there will no doubt be challenges in the future but TOGETHER YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!! Birthday Hugs from me and my Mom....

    Love, Teddy
