We have been waiting a long time to get some answers to what is going on with me, Lightning. After a multitude of tests and a lot of green papers, we think we finally have an explanation, well, sort of.
None of my many tests produced any indication of a problem, except for a very low specific gravity count. Over the past three weeks, things have been changing. Well, yes, Misty came home. My peeing at night and flooding the kitchen abated a bit. There were still a lot of wet towels for Mom to clean, but it was less. Then two weeks ago, it all stopped. Dr. B. had Mom "catch" four first-of-the-morning urine streams after not letting me have any water overnight. With each sample, the specific gravity improved. At first it was just a tiny bit. But the second one was little bit better. And the last two from this week were back to normal. I haven't had any "accidents" for two weeks. And I am not drinking gallons of water.
So what was the problem? We don't have a definite answer. But here is what Dr. B. is thinking. I "may" have had a kidney infection back in early May when all this started, but Mom was thinking it was Timber. Then it got worse and Mom figured out it was me. About the same time that Mom realized the peeing boy was me, I got bit by a tick who bored a hole in my back. Dr. B. put me on an extended dose of doxycyline to be sure that tick didn't give me some sort of tick-borne disease. Separately a urinalysis was done to see why I was peeing so much. All that test revealed was that my specific gravity was incredibly low. That was when all the testing started. The urine culture was done right about the same time I finished the doxycycline and about the same time Misty came home. The urine culture showed no bacterial growth of any sort. So that is where the thought came in that maybe this was all caused by stress from the early months of this year - psychogenic polydipsidia. But now that everything has cleared up, that is no longer being considered. Dr. B. thinks that I actually did have an infection early on, the doxycycline took a long time but eventually cleared it up (even though that isn't why it was prescribed), the urine culture was done when the doxycycline ran out so that test was negative. And now I am just fine. It is the only plausible explanation that the doctor and we can come up with at this point. But if the symptoms return, Mom is to call Dr. B. right away. I sure wish I didn't have to have all those tests, and now I have a bare belly:(
Do you want to know what my thoughts are on this?
I think Misty, my sweet sister, brought me good luck and made everything better. AND all the POTP, prayers, and good thoughts from all of YOU!!! For all of that I am forever grateful. Mom says we got a second miracle. Miracle #1 was Misty coming home. Miracle #2 is my recovery.
None of it makes a lot of sense to us, but whatever it was, all is good.
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber AND a very relieved Mom
What wonderful news on Lightning. Makes sense to me and I'm guessing this will not return. It's so good to see the three of you together again and I know it makes your moms heart very happy.

Oh, thank goodness - that is great news! You three are good for each other and good for us too - have a wonderful healing summer Woos.
ReplyDeleteWell Well Well my handsome Woo Lightning friend. I'm in 100% agreement stress can cause a gazillion things to get out of sync. Since January things have certainly been out of sync in Wooville. Having your pack back is monumental in healing physically and mentally. As for the bare tummy I bet it is kinda cool to have your undercarriage cool. Yep Miracles wonderful Mysteries.
ReplyDeleteHey Misty 4 days and counting til the headgear is no longer near
Sending hugs and purrs all around

ReplyDeleteI am very glad that your results have returned to normal. Lightning. I really do think it was triggered by stress, but now Misty is back and all is good.
ReplyDeleteThat answer does make sense for the humans what need these things, but I agree with you -- it was all Misty's Miracle!

ReplyDeleteGood news is always welcome, even when we don't quite know for sure no matter what the if's, and's and but's are. Glad to hear you're doing better and hopefully allow the hair to grow back. Keep up loving your sister-seems like she's the best medicine (along with the occasional antibiotic). Ear scritches to the lot of you guys. ๐
ReplyDeleteLightning you beautiful boy we are SO happy that nothing icky, yucky, or BAD has shown up in all the tests you had. I think you're right - you were "off your game" missing your sister and now she's back and the WORLD is right so you are getting FINE. Your shaved belly just means you are COOLER in the hot summer - think of it that way! Besides, I bet you didn't know you had those cool little patterns on your tummy until you got to see them with no hair!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy and Mom
Glad to hear you're ding better, Lightning! Hope Misty can get well enough to get rid of the cone too.
ReplyDeleteWell we are very happy to learn you are BETTER Lightning. Apparently you and Fenris just like being men of mystery. We still have no clue what caused Fenris' episodes, but as far as we know he hasn't had anymore.
