Wordy Wednesday

Nah, it's not THAT cold out here.  Can Misty please come out to play with me?

Nah, it's double digits today for the first time in days.  I am loving it out here.

Why am I always out here alone???  Yeah, yeah, yeah - Mom wants to be super careful.  She keeps saying SOON we can all be out here together.  OK, Mom - define SOON!!!

Now for a serious moment - we all need to cross our paws for the great state of Texas.  They are having lots and lots of serious problems there because of the storm and the cold.

Our human brother and family live near Dallas and are experiencing a very different life these days.  They have been hit by ice, snow, cold, and more.  Their home currently has frozen pipes affecting just about every faucet in the house.  In addition, their city is on a boil order for the water.  Last night the city ran out of water, and so they barely had a drip.  Trying to boil enough water for the essentials has been their prime goal.  And on top of everything else, they are dealing with those annoying rolling power outages that we too have had to endure.  They also have a swimming pool that is totally frozen. They had been chopping the ice but have given up.  They probably won't know the extent of the damage until it is much warmer.  A plumber came and told them there wasn't much they could do about the pipes except wait for warmer temps.  Thankfully we think that will happen by the weekend.

Their situation is bad, but there are many more people who have it much worse.  Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

  1. Woos and Momster I am so sorry about your Human brudder and family. It is just horrible all the trickle effect from this storm especially where they are not at all prepared for this. I hope and pray the pipes are ok when the start to thaw and there is not damage.

Now let me just say Misty...mom is very very wise to not let you out romping. A friend of mind just told me her sisters' dog had ACL surgery 2 or 3 weeks ago. The took him out to potty he slipped on the ice making a mess of the surgical area. I know Misty's isn't new surgery but this ice is not to
    paw friendly.

  5. Looking good guys! We are sure the 3 of you will have a great romp soon! Cinnamon is so looking forward to playing with Lil Grrl!
Texas has sure been hit hard. A friend of mine is moving and he planned to spend a week at his son's house in Austin to ensure it is tip top shape for a new tenant moving in at the end of the month. My friend was telling me how bad the cold and snow is there. Besides the awful roads, lack of food and water and rolling blackouts, he is sure the pool and the house plumbing will need work after this freeze. We have been praying for all of those affected by this horrible weather.

  7. Fingers crossed for them. It does look as if it will start warming up, but it will leave a mess.

Here we’re supposed to have enough emergency food and water for three days, but it’s in case we have to shelter in place from a wild fire. It does look as if more frequent emergencies will be a part of our future. :(

  16. Oh I know you all LOVE LOVE LOVE this snow but you're right - some areas of the country like Texas are in big trouble because of the weather. We pray for them and all the animals who are on their own trying to survive the weather too. Scary times.

    Hugs, Teddy

  17. Thoughts and prayers for your Dallas family. Having family in the Austin and Houston areas, I know how bad it is down there and hope things improve quickly. The news is full of heartbreaking images of people bundled up in long lines waiting to get propane or food. It's just terrible. Stay safe and warm.

  18. Thank you very much for your kind thoughts to Texas. We were wondering how your Texas family was doing! We never lost power here, but Auntie and all her pups came to stay with us for three days because they lost power. Momma is checking a lot now that things are melting to see if we have any burst pipes.

  19. Yes the sibes LOVE the cold, but those poor folks in Texas! They are not used to it or ready for it. Hope your family is doing better and doesn't have too much damage.
