Misty here, with an update from my vet visit.
The good news is that the ugly lump on my tail that I told you about yesterday IS a sebaceous cyst. It is huge and very angry. The bad news is that it has to be removed or it is going to cause lots of big problems down the road. The tail is a very tricky area. It isn't easy to get the wound to close after surgery because there isn't a lot of extra skin. But Dr. B. said that he will use some of the skin from my back if he can't get the wound to close properly. Today Dr. B. lanced the mass and drained a bit of the debris. He says it will drain on its own for several days, especially if I wag my tail a lot:) The other bad news is that I am going to have to wear a stupid cone if I lick at it. Mom says she will keep her eagle eyes on me, and as long as I leave it alone, I can go coneless. Because the mass needs some time to settle down from its inflamed and angry state and because of the holidays, my surgery isn't going to happen until Jan. 4th!!! Hopefully that doesn't mean I will be lampshaded for Christmas. I promise to try to be a good girl, but I really don't like that intruder on my tail.

ReplyDeleteYea!!! bout time we all got some good news. Morgan and Sebastian both had surgeries where there wasn't enough skin to close properly and were left partially open. Mom worried a lot but they both healed very nicely. We just know you will do great.
ReplyDeletePoor grrl! our before hairy slobbery sister Sam had one of those...They thought she was going to need surgury but it drained out and healed up furry nicely. We will purray for the best for you too Misty! That is a lovely photo of you in front of the tree! We love your Christmas Header and blog1 Ann does such wonderful work!

Cecilia
We're thankful that the lump isn't anything cancerous. We hope things go well when the vet removes it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the Christmas tree looks beautiful!
Seriously, Miss M ~ who wants to go round with a wet tail anyway, so best you leave it be. And
ReplyDeletein the New Year we trust all will go just fine.
Lulu: "Not the Cone of Shame! Resist the urge to lick, Misty!"
ReplyDeleteMisty I'm glad the doctor is going to fix that cyst but you just HAVE to avoid the cone by leaving it ALONE. Concentrate on the pretty tree and knowing that Santa will be there soon to visit you and your brothers but LEAVE THE OUCHIE SPOT ALONE!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
Misty, that is such a relief to know that it's only a sebaceous cyst. And you have even been offurred the oppurrtunity to avoid having to wear the Cone of Shame. Resist the urge to lick and all will be well.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that cyst just sounds like a big ol' pain in the you know where. So sorry that this is happening to you.
