The OP Pack decided to take a break from our outside fun and have a family meeting with Mom.
We needed to be sure we all understand what is happening this week with sweet Misty.
So for a long time now, months and months and more months, Misty has been having a problem. Mom finds blood in her stool all the time. After multiple rounds of blood tests, fecal tests, antibiotics, steroids, diet changes, and more of the same again and again, nothing has been discovered that can explain the problem. Misty actually seems quite fine. She eats well, drinks her water, likes to go for a walk, plays with both of us, and overall seems quite happy. But as Mom and the vet agree - this is NOT normal.
Mom explained to us that Misty has to have two big procedures done (mega $$$$$ ones too). She will have both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. This way the specialists can follow her gastrointestinal tract from beginning to end, so to speak. It will require anesthesia and all the ghastly colonoscopy preparation. She heads to the veterinary specialists clinic tomorrow afternoon to clean her system out:( And then on Wednesday she will have the two procedures. We think she will come home on Wednesday late in the day, but that will be determined after the procedures are completed. Multiple samples of the lining of her digestive tract and intestines will be taken and sent out for testing. She has already had two ultrasounds, and neither one revealed anything of concern. This is a big mystery. All the different doctors who have either examined Misty or conferred with our vet think the only explanation can be irritable bowel disease or polyps or a combination of the two. Of course, the evil "C" word is also in the mix.
So, Misty here, if you have some extra good vibes and prayers for me, please send them my way.
