Awww Monday

Awww, they did so very well!!!  Congrats to our Kansas City Chiefs for their AWEsome win over the Buffalo Bills.  It was an exciting and close game, and both teams played well. But we were disappointed to learn that some of the Bills' fans chose to pelt Patrick Mahomes and other Chiefs players with snowballs as they left the field after the game.  And to top things off, somehow the hot water was turned off in the Chiefs locker room.  Hmmm. . . .

Next up - those Baltimore Ravens!!!  Our good pal June from Zoolatry and her Mom Ann are big Ravens fans.  We love you, June and Ann, but we have to cheer for our Chiefs.

GO, CHIEFS!!!  WIN!!!

Now Lightning wants to share with you why it was not such an Awwwwwsome day for him here in OP.

Here I am mid-morning.  I am just totally exhausted.  I spent all morning trying to figure out how to get outside.  When Mom let us out at 5:45 a.m., much to all of our surprise, we found our world was a skating rink.  A very small amount of rain came in around 2:00 a.m. and froze everything.  As soon as my paws hit the deck, my bottom hit the floor.  The worst part was that I couldn't get back up.  My feet just kept slipping and sliding.  I don't know how those two youngsters managed, but somehow they made it across the deck and down the stairs.  Mom got a couple of carpet runners and tried to lay them down for me, but she too had to be careful.  It is just about four years ago that she took that bad tumble and broke her arm so badly. I finally got my legs under me, but no way was I going down those stairs.  I headed back inside.  Breakfast was beckoning.  I ventured out a couple more times, but I could not get down those stairs

I checked the kingdom later to see if things had improved.

I hear what you are saying, Mom, but I am afraid.

I need to think about this.  I see Misty and Timber out there.  Maybe I can try.

I hope you don't think I am a wimpy boy.

Are you SURE it is OK???

From Mom:  No photos, the temps finally went above freezing, and my sweet boy managed to get down the stairs.  He had an appointment to get another Librela injection this morning, but I cancelled it.  It is hard enough getting him in the car on a good day.  We will try again tomorrow.  But the weather blabbers are saying we may have a repeat overnight again.

I am going to pretend I didn't hear her say that!!!

Woos - Lightning

  6. Lighting, you are a brave but sensible boy, and not wimpy at all.
Gail says she's pleased that Kansas City Chiefs won as they're 'her' team (on the basis that she once went to one of their home games when she lived in Oklahoma).

  9. Awww, Lightning dear boy: me 'n' June have our paws crossed for sunshine-days to melt the ice and snow, cause we so want you to go out safely to play in the cold (and for Momster to be safe, too!). Just not fair that winter came which you would so love and yet you can't go out in it ...! Now, as for that other thing, which also has to do with feets, but the human ones: we do give congrats to Your Team, for a season well played. BUT, when you arrive here in our home town next Sunday, know this ... you WILL NOT go home winners ... NOT! We will have you slippin' and slidin' off to the sidelines every minute of the game, no snowballs. We will keep your locker room heat on ... and we'll keep the heat on on the field too! It's our turn, it's our year: GO RAVENS!

  10. You never win with ice, Lightning. It is the nastiest stuffs ever! Mom cancelled my librela shot this past Friday because we couldn't get out of our driveway . This Friday should work out better for me. It really is a miracle shot, isn't it!

  11. Oh sweet Baby, so sorry for all that ice. that is really scary for all of you and your mom. I wonder if Amazon sells flame throwers? I don't know how you held it that long... Prayers you can get your shot and that you did not hurt yourself falling down.. Congratulations to your Chiefs

  12. Of course we don't think you're a wimp, Lightning. Ice is really scary and you know that! We hope it warms up very soon so you can go out without any problems. It was really cold here last week but it's now warmed up.

    Woofs,
    Ollie

  14. Lulu: "Awww, poor Lightning! I have not experienced ice myself but Mama and Dada have and they say it is super slippery and no fun. We're glad you finally got to get out there and do your business."
Java Bean: "Congratulations to your Chiefs! Maybe everyone will finally stop complaining about Taylor Swift now! But probably not ..."

  15. We are glad your team won, and it should be a great game! But we live in Baltimore, so you know who we are going to be cheering for! (We also hope all the humans will be so into the game that they will not notice us stealing snacks from the coffee table! Hahaha!) And we hear you about being careful in the ice! Our mom has fallen too in the past and cannot do it again! Take good care!

  16. Nobody could think you a wimpy boy, Lightning. It's just that as one gets older, one can't always zoom around like a spring chicken. That's true for woofies, and for humans, and for kitties too. But you are as handsome as effur - that doesn't change.
