Happy Tuesday

A lot of you thought we were being mischievous yesterday and trying to go where no Sibes are allowed in this place.

But that was not the case.  It was the Momster who was being mischievous and trying to get us to go where no Sibe wants to go - the dreaded basement.

This is a view of the landing to the basement, and we were peeking through the spindles to the left with great fear.

Behind that door you would find this!!!  Very scary stairs and a lot of them going straight down, down, down!!!

Seriously, Mom, you think we want to go down there with you???  We don't think so.

Look, Misty.  She is trying to get us in trouble by tempting us with that tidbit of a treat.

Timber, you can go if you want to, but I am going to hold out for bigger things, much bigger things.

Be careful, brother, very very careful!!!

I think I will be OK, Misty.  I will just grab it quick and come right back to you.

It was a pretty tasty treat.  Let me think about this - should I go down and see if there are more to be found???

Ha, you can't fool me, Mom.  Two little teensy weensy treats is not worth me going anywhere near those stairs.  The upstairs ones are a lot easier and I know they lead to nice comfy beds.  All I hear down there is a big noisy machine
(that would be the furnaces blasting away in our frigid temps).

We think we won this battle.  Mom is back up here with us bearing bigger morsels for us.

Wait, today is Happy Tuesday - and as you can tell, there wasn't much happy about that adventure. But we ARE happy - LOOK!!!

WE GOT SNOW!!!

But since the temps are close to zero right now with a -13 wind chill factor, we don't stay out very long.  We just keep letting Mom get that exercise in with multiple trips in and out. We ARE such thoughtful pups🤣🤣

Woos - Misty and Timber

Note from Mom:  Why the big push to get them down to the basement?  We are coming up on tornado season. We have been very fortunate for years and have escaped Mother Nature's wrath.  But with the crazy weather we are seeing all around us, we have to be prepared.  In the past, if we have had to take cover in the basement, we have taken the dogs down on leashesa.  But we want them to go willingly so they don't pull us down the stairs.  Hence, I am working on getting them there.  A slow process, but I will succeed:). Yesterday I managed to get Timber to come down, but as soon as he realized that Misty had not followed him, he beat it up the stairs lickety split.  I guess he thinks she is very wise:)

  1. I can't say I blame you for not wanting to go down those stairs. It all makes sense now. You two are so precious.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

  3. I can see why you didn't want to go down those scary stairs, but it would be a good idea to getting used to doing it on your own. Enjoy that snow!

  4. You two are so cute being scared of the basement. We hope you never need to use it as a refuge from a storm, but it would make it easier on your parents if you went down there on your own.

  7. Mom closes the door in my face and won't let me go down to the basement. We also don't have nice carpeted stairs. I'm so happy that you got snow! Mine is ice covered and I don't see the ice going away until possibly this weekend.

Well, pupsters, methinks mum is being kind to invite and entice you down those stairs in a safety drill. If I were you, I'd take the bribes...errrr, hints... and practice following her! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  12. I love that you're making them feel safe and that it's okay to go down there. We just never know with Mama Earth and what she wants to do, any given day.

  13. I thought the spindles on the rail were too short to be on a standard staircase, and I was right, just couldn't make out what was going on. Either way, I hope you can entice them down the stairs willingly, it would be much easier for all of you if you have to take cover.

  15. I was going to say there is nothing good in the basement but when there is a tornado coming everything that is good is in the basement.

  16. Yes, it’s good to have tornado drills. There was a tornado about 1.5 hours south of us over the weekend. We spent the night in basement during Hurricane Helene! Scary for sure! Hugs & belly rubs to you two❣️ Kit, Kat, Rocky, & Cali

  18. you know I am the Ultmate Planner for emergency's and am now wildly clapping at your preparations.. try burger?? ha hahaha... I don't know if I could go up and down those steps, and not sure if Beau can do steps, we don't have any, but the one out of the garage into the living room. just a step up... good luck and prayers you do not need to go in the basement

  19. Safety first! I know how hard it is to get a dog to go down stairs when they are scared. I tried and tried to get Brut to go down stairs and never did get him to do it. I tried hot dogs with no go. We don't have as many tornados as you, but we do get them and I was always scared what I was going to do if one hit. Good luck!

  20. Java Bean: "Ayyy, I am with you, Timber, I always feel a little safer if my sister is around!"
Lulu: "And I feel a little safer when I'm under Dada's desk. But that is not the place to be during a tornado. We're sure you both will learn to go into the basement when necessary, and those treats will help!"
Charlee: "Ever since the really bad fires last month, Mama and Dada have been keeping our cat crates in the house, supposedly just in case. But fire season is over for now and the cat crates are still in the house."
Java Bean: "Ayyy, doesn't that make you suspicious?"
Charlee: "Actually I've been sleeping in mine."
