Woo Hoo - or so I thought. Here I am going for a ride in the car!
Hey Mom, where are we going? I love riding in the minivan. What, a "wait" check? Why do I have to do THAT? I have been practicing the wait command for almost 11 years, I do it quite well. I don't think I need to have it checked.
Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, we went to the V.E.T. so Mom could see if I have put on any pounds since my surgery and diet change. I really AM doing quite well, but the Momster was disappointed that I have only gained a half pound since July 7th. I'm trying, honest, I am eating much better but I can't help it if the scale doesn't show what she wants to see. I tried to tell her that a trip to Dairy Queen might help, but she didn't listen to me.
Woos, Phantom
Mom here: I was really hoping to see at least a one or two pound weight gain because Phantom has really been eating very well since we changed his food. We didn't see the vet, it was purely a weight check. I guess I will just have to be patient and give it more time. Phantom seems to be doing well. His energy level is back and he seems to be a happy pup. I guess it is just second nature for moms to worry.
Oh Phantom!
ReplyDeletePlease tell her that all good things khome to those that weight!
I khonkhur: more ice khream would SOOOO help!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
PeeEssWoo: HaRoooo!
I simply love the first picture of Phantom all excited about his car ride! He looks great, and just be patient, he will put the weight back on, I bet!

You definitely need more trips to DQ. That's all there is to it. In fact, I prescribe it.
ReplyDeleteDr. Steve
I don't know what it is about older dogs, my Savannah Leigh lost weight as she grew older and so did my Tony. Wish it was that way with us humans!
ReplyDeleteI recommend swinging by Sonic!
ReplyDeleteWoo.
Luv,
Dave
Hi, Phantom
ReplyDeleteI think the Ice Cream idea would work...
Tell your Mom you need to go for Ice Cream at least twice a day...
You are soooo handsome...
Abby xxxooo
Phantom does look happy - love the first pic.
ReplyDeleteI know that you were trying a couple of different foods. Which one did you decide on?
Ice cream sounds good to us too!
p.s. Momma accidentally deleted our squirrel demo off the hard drive right after she deleted it from the camera so we need to video again today. We hope to get it posted tomorrow.
Khyra's funny!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are doing pretty dang good my friend!
Hi, we're happy to see him so well. Perhaps it's a matter of time an soon he'll put on weight. It seems it's more important not to slim down...
ReplyDeleteWe are happy you are feeling well:)

DQ sounds delightful!!!! Too bad you didn't get some as a reward for half a pound!
ReplyDeletexo martine
ps: i'm confident you'll gain some weight!!
Yep, Mom == Worry. It's axiomatic.
ReplyDeleteYup, we know how moms are. Woorry woorry woorry! We're putting ours thru that right now. We expect to get lots of treats out of it. Star's a little leary of car rides cause her last 3 were all to the v-e-t!

Star & Jack a-roo
Sorry you got tricked into that vet trip - but at least it wasnt a full visit - and tell mommy the scale is wrong!! But if you are eating well maybe the weight will come
ReplyDeleteWoodrow - Sweetie - MJ
You make sure to continue with that weight gain, Phantom!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Phantom is doing so well. It does take time for weight to come on. Me and Sophie are always looking skinny too. Luv Scott xx
ReplyDeleteEating well is more important than weight gain in our book. Besides, how many of us get told to ADD weight. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteBoy, were you right on with the Rut Roh! I LOVElovelove that ginormous smile on your face in that first photo! That's one winning picture! Wish you'd put on a couple of ###, but it sounds like you are feeling furry good, Phantom! That is good news!
ReplyDelete(Moreicecream Moreicecream...)

Well, it's better than losing weight I guess. I'm sorry you were tricked like that Phantom.
ReplyDeleteHuffle Mawson
Still, it's progress! We're very happy for Phantom!
ReplyDeletelove & wags,

I know how much moms can worry over their dog kids. Maybe Phantom is burning off some of the calories so isn't putting on as much?? Or maybe he does need that ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteOMD that last picture just melted our hearts!!!
ReplyDeleteWe agree that DQ is in order! We would try mailing you some but we don't believe it would be very good when it got to you.
We will gladly share some of our weight with you. Lucie's but is getting BIG! BOL!!!
Chasing my tale...
Addie, Lucie, and Hailey
Hi, Phantom!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. More ice cream sure will do the "more weight trick"!
I hope your next car ride will be to get some yummy ice cream!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
I know that weight thing must be VERY frustrating.
ReplyDeleteHere is moms suggestion. When our old cats got skinny, we gave them kitty food.
Since i have been taking these poison pills- i am supposed to have a fatty meal to help my liver. So moms gave me 2 tablespoons of puppy food with my breakfast. Well i gained weight.
You could try? If all fails- resort to icecream!
love tweedles
I think those photos of you in the car are wonderful! You look so full of joy and happiness! We are glad you are doing better! Ice cream might help you gain but is it right for you? We hope all is well with you and everyone there!
ReplyDeletePhantom

You keep worrying, mom, that's what moms do. Sometimes doggies are so brave that they won't tell when they have a problem. Just try to put on a happy face.

Phantom, should I have my Mom chat with your Mom about the importance of DQ after the V.E.T. You could always come and stay at my house; I'm fairly sure Momma and Daddy would give you anything you wanted ;o) I say 1/2 lb is better than 0 lb!
ReplyDeleteSnuggles,
Twix
Phantom, we knows a trip to Dairy Queen would put weight on us. But maybe your Mommy wants you to gain weight by eating healthy foods. Not as much fun though.~S,S,C & F
ReplyDeleteI am on a catch-up mission.
ReplyDeleteThank you for not forgetting me in my blogabsence.
Phantom looks pretty good, so paws crossed he will be ok.
There are some great pix of Thunder on your blog, well, they are great because I lie and stretch and everything like that too.

My mum Worries herself to death all the time. I think she is the one that needs to go to the vet, not me.
