Liberation Day

Without any further delay, let's celebrate!!!! My stitches are out, and my cone is packed away (for good, I hope). Here I am on my way home with Mom.

Can you tell the difference in me? You just know that I am a happy boy.

When Mom opened the door to let me out of the minivan in the garage at home, we both had quite a surprise. LOOK!!!

Look at that guy, he was slithering all around the garage. Mom got me inside very quickly and made sure that Thunder Dunder, the snakehunter, didn't slip outside. Then she quickly pushed that slitherer out the door with a big rake. The Momster squealed a few times too:)

Now I know you are all expecting to see photos of me having a great time now that I am cone-less. But there was only one thing on my mind - something I have been missing for three weeks.

When Mom came in after tending to the snake, this is where she found me.

No, Mom. I am just fine, I don't want to come out for a cookie.

Don't you see how much I LOVE my crate?

This is my idea of a peaceful time alone. Don't worry, readers, don't be sad. I am really very happy to have some time in my cave, I feel very safe here. I missed it so much, and now it is even more special to me.

After my trip to the vet, Mom had to go back there again. She was helping out the human sister by taking Gypsy to the vet where she is spending the day. Mom got a couple of pics of the pretty girl.

Gypsy is 7 1/2 years old and has always been a very healthy dog. For the most part she only sees the vet for her annual checkups. One time she had a massive lipoma removed from her back hip/leg area but it was one of those benign fatty things. She has always had a hearty appetite so it was quite a surprise when she refused to eat.

Even though she doesn't feel very good, she still managed a smile.

There really wasn't much improvement in her condition yesterday; Mom even brought her some of Twink's special chicken liver delights and she wouldn't eat them. Gypsy's Mom has talked to the vet on the phone a couple of times today. Gypsy has a little bit of a temperature, but not enough for concern. She is also borderline dehydrated again. So she got some more fluids and another anti-nausea injection. The report from the specialist ER had some questions about her heart function. So they did a chest x-ray today. There is evidence of some fluid buildup which the vet said could indicate some heart disease. The plan for now is to send her home today with some meds for her tummy and see how she does over the next few days. Then she may go back for an echocardiogram. So there still aren't any answers. Gypsy thanks all of you for the good wishes.

For our Paw It Forward, the furries from Beaded Tail and from Amazing Animal Lovers' Blog have very graciously offered to take on the challenge of PIF. So we will be pawing our second donation to the Shelby fund to help defray the mounting costs for her care. Thanks to both of you for helping help others.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

EEKK! SNAKE! and not a baby snake either. Yikes! Do you know what kind that was? Was it poisonous? Do you have a lot of snakes around there? I would flip out if I saw a snake.

Our thoughts are with Gypsy and sure hope that the medicine makes her feel better.

  24. Pee Ess Woo: so glad you're home and happy in your den. Loki was hanging out in his on our last few days in the old house too. it's safe there. i never knew how much dogs LIKED crates until i took Juno to a dog show to demo her off leash obedience for an audience and in between sets, she willingly went in it on her own and hung out to escape the hustle and bustle. so i get it. really do.

    glad you're happy now!
and we'll send heeling vibes for gypsy.

  25. Hooray for a cone-free day! Paws still crossed for Gypsy.

  26. Wonderful news for Phantom!!! We are so glad the cone is gone!!! We know how much the caves are important for security and safety. Holly goes into hers when she just wants some alone time or if she thinks that something is wrong (like a snake). Coming home to a snake is not usually a good thing! The last time I came home to find one at my door, it was a baby copperhead and I was so stunned that I threw my pocketbook at it (like that really helped). Gypsy is so pretty and we have paws crossed, purrs going and prayers being said. Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
