Yes, I am home and happy about that. But this collar sucks even if it sort of makes me look like a pirate.
Here I am in my crate showing you my "better" side - I expect to stay in here for the day. It took me a while to figure out how to fit this headgear in the opening.
If you are squeamish about incisions, you may not want to look at the next photo.
I have two medicines that the Momster thinks I am going to take - but I plan on giving her a good run for the treats. I have four more days of Rimadyl for pain and seven days worth of Simplicef to prevent infection. I must admit that I am not very good about taking my meds but I will try to cooperate.
Lab report is not expected for 7-10 days and headgear has to stay on until the stitches come out in 14 days. It will be a long wait for all of us.
Thanks to all of you for all your comments, prayers, good thoughts, and crossed paws. Lots of love to you from me and my pack.
Woos, Phantom
Yiiiiiiippppie! I thinks you is still beautifuls and da headgear kinda makes you look all ruff and tumble...you knows, kinda in a piratey way.
ReplyDeleteMore shaving on da furs is a good thing so they can get good margins though so it ain't all dat bad. But, I am sorry you gotta stay in jail da rest of da day. I'm sure TD will have your spot all nice and warm once you come out of solitary.
Soooooo glad you is home and looking likes your handsome self.
Puddles
Welcome home Phantom! Rest up and take it easy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you made it home safe and sound, rest up!
ReplyDeleteGood to see wooo home mate! Take good care!
ReplyDeleteYAY, PHANTOM!!!!! We are so glad you're home. You do look rather mysterious and dashing in that headgear. Make the best of it. You could develop a whole new person, getting TD and Ciara to bow down to you. And I agree you should work your Mom for as many treats as possible along with the meds.
ReplyDeleteWoofs,
Tommy
Girls like scars by da way. HEHEHEHE! It makes da Phantom more mysterious... Does yous have a tatoo?
ReplyDeletewiggles and licks,

The stitches didn't look near as bad as we envisioned. Phantom we thinks you look very dashing, like the heroes in Mommy's books. Purrs you get good news.
ReplyDeleteIf your medicine is in pill form Mommy hides Fenris' pills in peanutbutter and he gobbles them right down.
Welcome home! Don't worry, your fur will cover the scar.
ReplyDeleteRelax and enjoy the Rimadyl. You might even see colors!!
We're all praying for you!

Phantom, we are so glad to see you home in your own crate. Norma Jean had to wear her comfy cone for a month and she learned how to get around in her crate really well. We're sure your Mom will have some special treats to help the meds go down. Get lots of rest and heal well.

Shiloh, Shasta & mom too wish to welcome you home Phantom - so glad it is over but I know that wait can get to you. Phantom - I understand about the margins - but after having a melanoma removed over 10 years ago with no more signs of it since, believe me - wide margins are a good thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd to Phantom's mom - try putting the pills in peanut butter - just get a spoonful of it then TOTALLY wrap it around the pill so that absolutely NONE of it is exposed. The Beaglebratz both love p-nut butter - they never know what they just swallowed - all they care about is the p-nut butter.
Kim
I think the headgear is very stylish on you. My only trouble with it is Charlie learned how to push me with his cone so I had these wild bruises on the back of my legs so it looked like my hubby beat me :O) He doesn't, of course, but I had fun with it.
ReplyDeleteI give meds in cheese. Our pack falls for it every time and it beats placing it in the back of their throat and having them spit out a slimy pill a minute later.
We hope that your healing is complete and forever.
Yippee! We are furry happy that Phantom is home! Sorry bout that cone. At least it's not one of those old noisy-pain-in-the-butt-torture devices!
ReplyDeleteOur mom sneaks our pills in a bit of cheese. We just gobble the yummy treat down and let her think we've been fooled. BOL

Phantom,
ReplyDeleteIf you get an eyepatch, the ladies won't be able to tell you from Johnny Depp!

ReplyDeleteLick, hero
Phantom we are so glad you are home! It is true you do look a bit like a pirate, but we totally understand why you would prefer it if the collar were off! And don't fight your mom too much on your pills - the pain ones especially will be nice for you to have! We are still sending lots of purrs and prayers and keeping our fingers and paws crossed for good news on the results!!

ReplyDeleteYour Mom will take good care of you, and you should cooperate and take the pills. At least, if they come with peanut butter or hot dogs.

I must bark that you look like you are wearing one of my mom's humungous turtleneck sweaters and I can't imagine it's too comfy fur you to be wearing it on a hot day like today! I hate to be stuck at home all day so I understand how you feel! I hope you get well soon!

Milk this for everything you can Phantom. Get the high quality treats!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you feel better soon though.
SO SO glad you are home!! Hope your stitches heal quickly and you are back at em' in no time! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you're home, Phantom, even if you have to wear krazy head gear and take meds.
ReplyDeleteWhy do lab reports have to take so long? For me, that 7-10 days would feel like a month... I know because I've been in your shoes. Oh yeah, you don't wear shoes... maybe booties would be a better word.
In any case, all of us are hoping that you feel better soon. here's a hint - if you look really pathetic while wearing the headgear, you get extra tidbits from mom!!! That's how it works in our house!
Hey PH, you're handsome and adorable no matter what you're wearing... and we luvs you and your family very, very much.
ReplyDeleteBe well soon sweet boy.
Phantom - I am so glad you are home safe and sound! It has been a long couple of days for all of us, worrying about you! Sorry, about that silly cone, but two weeks will be over before you know it!
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Welcome home Phantom! Please take it easy and cooperate with the Momster!
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, buddy!

We are happy to see you home Phantom. My mom uses pill pockets from the vet to fool us into taking pills.
ReplyDeletelove & wags,

I think you just look so good at home! Just tell everyone it's a new hat that keeps the sun out of your eyes and the flies away from your ears. You'll start a new trend! Anyroo, we are beyond thrilled that you are home and able to rest and heal!
ReplyDeleteBunny
Home and handsome as ever. Dude, the chicks are really going to dig that scar. Rrrrowr!
ReplyDeleteYou don't look too pleased with your hood. Try to think of it as a fashion statement. Maybe you could get a few in different colors since you'll be wearing them for a while. Like mood hoods.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see you home. Take your pills, OK?
Slobbers,
Mango
Sooooo glad to see that you are home, even though you have to wear that darned thingie - at least it's a "soft" thingie (don't want to mention what it is...).
