Such a nice day here in OP, cool temps and not a lot of humidity!!!
We have spent a lot of time on the deck this morning, first time in weeks. And yes, Ciara is smiling:) It's been a rough go of it lately for her, (10 full blown seizures in less than 36 hours last week) and now she is back on the higher dose of phenobarbital. She is only one week into the loading her system again with the higher dose, but only a couple more weeks to go. It comes with a lot more risk for her long term, but Mom and Dad decided, with advice from her neurologist, that it was better to try to better control the seizures and try to deal with some of the bad side effects as they occur. Mom had a very hard time with this decision and needed time to work it all out in her head. She still isn't happy about where we are at this point, but it is what it is. We thank you all for your kindness and concern. We are a bit bummed though because there was a lot of serious talk here about adding a little one to our pack, we got glimpses of two possibilities on the laptop, but we think it is back on hold again:(
We are excited for the Pawlympics happening now in Blogville. You may find us appearing in a couple of the events, but in our minds all the competitors are winners. Let the games begin!!!
Woos - Ciara and Lightning
You've been in my thoughts, Ciara...also, the Pawlympics will truly be a blast!
ReplyDeleteWE have been thinking about you too Ciara. So so sorry, you are having so much trouble. We sure send lots of hugs to all. BUT a small one sounds good. Lightning you help the Mom take care of Ciara. We know you will do that. Have a good week end.
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry to hear about the increased number of seizures. We pray that the stronger dose of meds will be effective and the side-effects minimal. :(
ReplyDeleteWe got in a lot of deck time this morning, too! It was so wonderful. We played Queen of the Stairs a few times - I think we tied on who won.
Cammie!
We are continuing our POTP and prayers for Ciara!

ReplyDeleteWe're sorry to hear Ciara isn't doing too well with those darn seizures. We wish there was some other drug she could try, but she's been through the best ones already. Glad you're at least getting a break from the heat.

I so hate hearing about so many seizures...but I know lots of peeps and pups do really well on the pheno... Hoping for the same for C. I have my own classroom now...one week til the kiddos arrive!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through - and what poor Ciara is going through! You're always in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you in the games.
We are so happy to see that beautiful smiling face.

Khumbu, Kyra and Rita
You are in our thoughts and prayers Ciara....it is such a difficult thing to deal with. Thinking of your whole family and hoping the medication will help. We look forward to seeing all of the participants in the events!
ReplyDeleteSadly we have to agree - adding a new puppy to the mix could upset Ciara and create more problems - we are so sad to read she continues to be visited by the S - monster
ReplyDeleteI cross all my paws for you Ciara and I hope that only good things come to you all.... I've read about a little one.... wow that would be pawsome.... :o)
ReplyDeleteOh dear Ciara I'm always thinking about you and hoping the monster is staying away and instead of staying away - he really was extra MEAN with so many seizures in a short period of time! I hope the phenobarbital keeps things controlled and let's just pray no bad side effects. You are amazing - you really are and Lightning is taking SUCH good care to stay by your side. As for adding to the family - if it's meant to be, it will be. First things first!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, Sammy
Hello, we are glad to see Ciara smiling and hope so much that things are not too bad with the side effects from the drug. Paws crossed! All the best to you all!
ReplyDeleteKiki and Nala
It's so nice to see you smiling again, Ciara! We're going to find SOMETHING to lick that Seizure Monster. Obviously I need to train Pax a little better.
ReplyDeleteThose are really hard decisions to deal with. When I'm faced with those, I usually decide for quality rather than quantity. It hurts to have to make those choices, but we do what we have to do and go on from there. I really hope the seizures will back off now and allow her to have some peace.
ReplyDeleteThe Seizure Monstor struck fast and furious. Paws crossed that the higher dose will ward it off. We'd love to the appearance of a little one, but understand the problem.
ReplyDeleteI've been secretly worrying about you but not wanting to bother you. I'm so sorry that Ciara has had such a rough time, and that you've had such difficult decisions to make. We are sending you super duper strength POTP plus lots of love for all of you. I wish that this were easier for you.
ReplyDeleteWe make sure every night before we go to sleep that you are in our prayers sweet girl. We are so happy to see you at the pawolympics....stella rose
ReplyDeleteWe keep all of you on our mind all the time,, And we know Ciara does not like the seizures,, either!!!
