Today we are trying to turn a not so great day into a thankful one as we join Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop.
As you can see, I am not very excited about my plight. I had some fluid leaking the past two nights. Last night there was some blood too. I went to the Vet today for my second cold laser treatment. The surgeon's assistant was there to check me out. I had some more bleeding while I was waiting in the lobby for my turn. I must say that I was thankful for all the wonderful people at my clinic who all love me and give me lots of nice petting.
In this photo you can see my knee. It looks a lot worse than it is. The bloody part is just where all my furs are stained. The nice Melinda lady said my incision is still nicely intact but that I have had some fluid and blood seeping. She says it is probably from when I stand for too long. Mom and I work very hard together to keep me off my feet as much as possible, but when I smell dinner cooking, I just have to see what is happening. And so now Mom and I have to figure out a way to let her make dinner and keep me down. Dad is going to sit with me and see if I will stay down. And I still cry most of the night, and I do nt always stay lying down. But Mom says we have to be thankful that my incision is doing well despite the draining. We are both struggling to get through this ordeal. Mom hasn't had a good night's sleep since I came home, and I just want things to be back to normal. Melinda says we just have to get through next week, and then life should improve.
Here is a little video that Mom put together of my first five days of walking. We think you can see the improvement with each day - slow but it IS there.
So another reason to be thankful - progress is being made.
Lastly I am thankful for all of you for your encouragement and support.
Woos - Lightning
Oh you poor pupper. It's pawwwsome that you can still find something to be thankful for during this challenging time. I hope you keep improving with your leg. Perhaps extra treats and some extra cuddling are in your near future. :-)
ReplyDeleteLightning my precious WooFul friend. I am so very sorry for you as I know you are a tough guy and like to be on the move and investigating and keeping your pack under control so this is surely throwing a wrench in to your style.
ReplyDeleteAs for your sweet Mom lack of sleep is hard to deal with especially with all her other duties besides being your Mom. I hope and purr you are going to turn a corner very very soon.
Loving hugs Cecilia
We love you and I know it's difficult, but you look like you're doing really good in that video. Listen to the Mom! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Oh sweet Lightning...keep healing and feeling better. You are in such excellent hands...we know this road all too well and send you lots and lots of love. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you and your Mom are going through, and I know how worried and how worn out she feels too. But the progress is definitely there, and so I just know that once you get past this hurdle things will be better for you both. I continue to send healing vibes and cheer you both on!! And next week, when things are better for you, you can cheer us on - Our foster boy Alf will be having surgery. It won't be as complicated as Lightning's, but it's still surgery and a reason to worry. Hang in there!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible ordeal my friend. No easy days. But you have a terrific family. You will all pull together and beat this thing.
ReplyDeleteI am really encouraged by seeing your video, Lightning. You are getting stronger!
ReplyDeleteI think that the vet person is right that things are going to get better, especially if you can just get through the coming week. The leaking is yucky but I'm glad that it's not a big deal (the fluid has to go somewhere). Keep the faith - if it's anything like R's surgery, you will finally turn a big corner just about when your humans think that it will never happen. I feel sure that will happen for you, Lightning. Sleep well tonight so that your mom can too.
Oh my pal! I so gets what your Moms is goin' through (okays, 'I' don't butts Ma said she does, so....☺) I'm glads your Moms is keepin' the vettie peeps in the loop, and gettin' all the help she can for you. I am sendin' all the POTP and healin' vibes I can...I thinks I will needs another margarita, and some TJ Pumpkin cookies for more energy....hehehee
ReplyDelete{{{hugs}}} to you and your pack, and lots of strong coffee (or tea)
Kisses,
Ruby ♥

ReplyDeleteGosh dear Lightning - if we could all pitch in and take some of your frustration, hurts, and sads away we would. You just have to wait a little longer and you will begin to feel a lot better. It will be a while before you can run and play but you are BRAVE and STRONG and we just know you can do this!!
