Thankful Thursday

So what do we have to be thankful for today?

Why so glum, Lightning?  Tell our readers the good news!!!

Lightning:  Yeah, I finally got my stitches and my staples out!  That IS good news.  But why am I still wearing this silly contraption?

Well, that is because there is a lot of "debris" left from all the leaking around the staples and it is going to be itchy. The surgeon's assistant didn't want to do any rubbing on the incision to try to get them off. She said in a few days it will work its way loose.  It might be itchy, and so you might want to lick at it.  Just a few more days, buddy.

Timber:  No worries, Lightning - this little brother will keep you company.  Maybe that will cheer you up.

Lightning:  Thanks, Timber.  I am pretty sure I might perk up a lot if Mom would let us all have some of those freeze-dried chicken treats in her paws.

From Mom:  We are thrilled to have reached the stage of stitches/staples removal.  Lightning is healing!!!  And he is walking well.  He will see the surgeon next Thursday for another evaluation.  He can go without his cone in a few days IF he leaves the area alone.  He is still on leash restriction and no stairs and no running or playing.  But we are making progress:)  And for that, we are all very thankful.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  2. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Boy is this good to hear. Lightning I must tell you a funny. When I was a wee girl my pediatrician told my mom that I was the scratching child she had ever known. If they had cones back them I'm sure I would have been in one. I did and still do have a very bad reaction to mosquito bites. I would scratch terribly and one almost got infected.
So good buddy keep the cone on until you get all clear

  26. Yay! We're thankful for that news too! We hope you get that lampshade off your head soon so you can feel like yourself again, Lightning! Our Aunt Dolly from Vegas had hernia surgery Wednesday and was supposed to wear a cone for 10 days. It didn't even make it one hour before she got it off with her back feet! She did not want no cone!
