I can be a dog again - I can be a Siberian Husky again - I am FREE to run and play. The nice man surgeon Dr. H. said I need to get out and enjoy life again. Running is going to help build the muscles in my gimpy leg and help me heal even more.
Oh, Happy Day!!! My first time in the backyard in 8 1/2 weeks. My leash is attached so Mom can catch me if I get too wild and crazy:)
I can also go without my cone since Dr. H. says what is left of my scab is very superficial. If I continue to lick it, the cone has to go back on. But Mom can try using some of yucky-tasting Bitter Orange to keep me from bothering the area.
Mom used this concoction on Angel Phantom's tail when he had that nasty tumor and sore that would not go away. It worked well with him, so here's hoping I can say the same thing.
You know the Momster is a worry wart and she is also very cautious. So at least for starters, I will go out in the yard without Misty and Timber just to give me a chance to see how well I can manage. Slowly she will let the two youngsters join me. As for the cone, caution always wins over compassion with her. She is going to let me go without the cone when she is here with me and put it on when she leaves the house and overnight for a few more days. I can live with that. I am just beyond overjoyed with today's clearance!!! For my first time outside she left the cone on me. But when I got inside, she did take it off.
Awww, c'mon, Mom - can't I stay out a little longer?
And can we come out too?
OK, let's go in but you promised me a tasty treat!!!
Let's celebrate together!!!
Happy Me!!!
Woos - Lightning - I AM BACK!!!

ReplyDeleteit has beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen a long dark road there in your tunnel and now you can see the light and feel the grass in your toes and snow on your belly.
Your back yard is now your PT ground. Take it easy big boy and they the young'uns to curb their glee just a bit.
Never thought that the gimp could be from the muscle needing a good stretch
Loads of hugs to my Wooful friends

That sure is great news Lightning! We're so happy that you can start hanging out in your yard. We think it's a good idea to be out there by yourself. You don't want to get bounced around by your sibs too soon and ruin all the hard work you and your mom have done to let your leg heal.
ReplyDeleteWe're thrilled for you. Daisy Mae and I are doing happy dances and wooing for you. Glad you're back out outside and that bad old cone off. Now that's an early Christmas gift from Santa Paws.
ReplyDeleteCrystal And Daisy Mae
Oh Happy Day, indeed!! This is furbulous news! Keep rehabbing dear boy so you can show the wild ones next door who's top dog! Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, WOW! Does this do our hearts good!!! We've been going through all of your posts that we missed (Mom has been swamped again, then goes to the Studio for stress-relief) and we sure were hoping and praying to hear this!!! We know you'll be careful and will try not to "bother" your scabby area. We're SO HAPPY for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteCammie!

I'm doing the happy dance, Lightening. I'm so happy for you and your mom too. What great news.
ReplyDeleteHave a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. ♥
Lightning! You're FREEEE (well part-time but still FREE). Coneless most of the time and able to go outside again. I think that doctor of yours is ON YOUR SIDE. He knows how hard it's been for you to not do what your nature tells you to do - now you can but cautiously. I know Misty and Timber will be excited to have you back outside with them soon. Still keep resting when you can - don't push your luck big guy!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy

ReplyDeleteLightning I love your good news!! I understand what and why your Mom is keeping you "low key" for now. She needs to save her allowance so she can buy you the best of presents and not give it to the V E T! :-) ...yeah, that's it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you've had a fun weekend celebrating being a dog again!
YAY!! We KNEW it! That's the most pawesome news ever!
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Yay for no more cone, Lightning!"
ReplyDeleteChaplin: "We wrote a little song for you about it!"
Charlee: "It goes, 'Cone free, as free as the wind blows, as free as the grass grows, so go play in the snow'!"
Chaplin: "Well, okay, we might have stolen the song from a movie about lions. But, you know, lions are just big cats, so we're entitled to use it."
Ohhhhhhh Lightning, you look so handsome!
ReplyDeleteYAAAAY! So happy for you Lightning! It has been a long haul but we are so glad to see you almost fully recovered!
