Sunny Sunday Ussie

What a beautiful day in OP!!!!

Can you tell it is VERY sunny - it is blinding us.  And it is 60 degrees and just a bit breezy!!!  Some snow would be nice, but for a Sunday in February, we must admit it's not too bad.

A Misty Update:  In a word, she is miserable.  She spends the day and night drinking water, peeing, and foraging for food cverywhere.  She pees pretty much every hour roound the clock.  Poor thing just isn't herself.  Believe it or not, the specialist actually called Mom upon her return from wherever she was.  Lots of apologies for all the missteps.  She advised taking Misty off the prednisone and trying her with a different drug, budesonide, which has similar benefits and similar but not as drastic side effects.  All the same thirst, hunger, and urination, but maybe easier on her.  Mom told her she wanted to run it by our own vet since he had been so good to us in coming up with a treatment plan.  He also had mentioned this budesonide to Mom as an alternative to the prednisone.  The specialist was OK with that.  Dr. B, our vet, said to go ahead and get it.  That was last Thursday; specialist was "supposed" to call it in to the pharmacy that day.  The med has to be compounded specifically for Misty.  Mom called the pharmacy Friday morning (there is only one in our area that compounds), and they had not received the request!!!!!  Another misstep:(. Mom called the specialist, once again got voicemail,  and lo and behold, within 10 minutes it was ordered and no explanation given.  Now it take two business days for it to be ready which brings us to late Tuesday.  Our vet wants us to let him know when we actually have the prescription in hand, and he will advise us how to wean Misty off the prednisone.  After another problem with the specialist's office, Mom says she is about done with them.  Here's hoping the new med will be tolerated better by Misty.

Happy Sunday to everyone - enjoy what is left of the weekend.

  1. You all sure look happy hanging out in the sunny yard. We were warm here but not quite that warm. Our paws are crossed that Misty can feel better soon.

  5. That poor sweetie, I feel so bad for her, and you too. That specialist is an idiot, now you know what her specialty is. I've heard some good things about budesonide, it hope is helps and is easier on her.

  17. The sign of a good specialise or vet is if they are OK with you conferring to your own vet. I hope you can sort something out for the sweet thing.
